Seonghwa
He wasn't wrong. The siren prince, Kang Jisung, came sooner than Seonghwa anticipated. Just a few days after their talk, and at least fifteen of embarrassing encounters since Seonghwa wasn't sure what to make out of Hongjoongs words.
Seonghwa was out on his balcony with Jongho, watching as the prince rode in with some of his guards. He never met him in person, but he had heard enough from his father.
"You don't seem very pleased." Jongho yawned, watching the prince as he stepped out of his carriage. "I still don't know what to think about this. It's all to sudden."
Jongho snorted, head placed on his hand. "I thought you couldn't wait to get away from us." Seonghwa rolled his eyes. "Well just imagine how you'd feel in my situation."
Powerless, dumb, controlled. That's exactly how he felt. He shouldn't need to be saved. Stupid arrangement. "Imagine what would happen if someone put me into a situation like that."
Bloodshed, he was sure about that. If the king would be foolish enough to even propose such an idea to Jongho, he would probably decapitate him on the spot.
Seonghwa sighed and turned away, back leaned against the banister, arms crossed in front of his chest. He looked at Jongho for a moment.
His red silky dress shirt was left unbuttoned, grayish scales shimmering on his chest. It was still tucked neatly into his black pants. Seonghwa spent some time with him the past days, even though they didn't grew terribly close, they were able to hold a decent conversation.
"Do you want to go meet them like that?" Jongho looked down on himself, trying to find any errors on him. "Is there something wrong?"
Seonghwa could clearly hear the mocking tone in his voice, he simple chose to ignore it. "Maybe you should at least button up."
"I wouldn't look intimidating like that. I know what I am doing." Sure, he did. Seonghwa couldn't help but groan. Intimidating. Having his muscles on display was not to look intimidating. He just wanted them to stare and compliment him.
"Does Yeosang approve of this?" Jongho shrugged. "He never told me to dress up more. He would speak up, if he would not like it." He would. Even if he wouldn't mind, he would still have something to say about it.
"Whatever you say then." He turned his head again, looking down over his shoulder. Hongjoong stood next to the prince now, the grin on his lips even noticeable from far away.
"What's the story?" Jongho looked up, frowning. "Story? What story?" Seonghwa gestured down to Hongjoong. His tail was twitching happily behind him, while he followed the prince around, attached to his hip it seemed. Much to the mermaid prince's displeasure. Just the more reason for Hongjoong to anger him.
