They say time passes by when you are having fun and time is slower when you are having a hard time in life but if you ask me, I say they are wrong. When I was with Jimmy time slowed down and when my parents died  it felt as though time had sped up for me.

Ash yawned as she stepped outside of her house at One thirty in the morning and quickly locked her door with another tired yawn. Once she was positive that she locked both locks on her door, she started to walk down to the sign where she could be picked up by the RTD bus. Snow slowly started to fall lightly as she walked on the side walk silently while rubbing her eyes to keep the drowsiness from her eyes. As Ash got closer to the sign she realized that Jake was standing by the sign with his arms crossed.

Once she was standing by the sign, Ash asked in a playful tone, “Are you following me?”

Jake sighed as he replied, “No, my car broke down and so I have to take the bus to school until the engine is replaced.”

Ash sighed as she said “Gease, ever heard of a joke.”

“What… is a joke?” Jake asked in confusion.

Ash quickly asked, “You are kidding right?”

Jake quickly replied, “No.”

Ash sighed as she explained, “Well… a joke is um… It's a way to make people laugh or kind of like humer if that makes any snake.”

“Like what clowns do.” Jake said as the bus slowly pulled up next to them and opened its doors.

Ash smiled as she said “Yeah but I don’t like clowns.”

Jake looked at Ash in confusion as she got onto the bus and he quickly got onto the bus once she had found her seat. Ash watched as Jake sat across from her silently while looking out the window to watch the light snowfall.

Jake asked, “So, you don’t like clowns? Why is that?”

Ash sighed as she replied, “My mom took me to a haunted house for halloween when I was eight years old and there was a clown that um… well he tried to kidnap me from my mother.”

Jake quickly looked over at Ash and asked “Relay.”

Ash slowly nodded her head yes as she said, “That happened a lot when I was young but my parents always came to rescue me just in time.”

Jake asked, “Did you know who they were?”

Ash sighed as she replied, “No, I didn’t have any friends back then.” They both went silent before Ash asked, “So, how are you feeling?”

Jake looked at Ash as he replied, “I am fine, I just didn’t eat that day and it got to me.”

“You shouldn’t skip meals, it is really bad for you.” Ash said in concern.

Jake sighed as he said, “Yeah, I know and it won't happen again.”

Ash smiled as she said, “Alright, as long as it doesn’t happen again. I worry about you and everyone that I have met in this town Jake, I can't help but worry about you.”

Jake smiled as he said, “Thanks Ash.”

Jake and Ash quickly went silent the rest of the way to school. Once they reached the school, they quickly got off the bus and went into the school silently as they continued walking to their classes. Sixteen hours later, Ash finished her last class and was about ready to leave when Jimmy quickly stopped her.

Ash said in surprise as he stepped in front of her, “Wow, hey Jimmy.”

Jimmy sighed as he said apologetically, “I am so sorry Ash, I can’t walk you home today. My brother had pneumonia and he is in the hospital.”
