"I just hope I can talk to Edd and the others...and apologize."
"That's everything, ma'am." Patryk says as he and Paul carry the last of their bags inside. Mona shakes her head, hands on her hips. "Guys please...you don't have to call me 'ma'am.' I don't expect formalities, even if I am technically the leader for now." She then thinks. "Maybe I can pass that role to Ivan. He seems like he would do better." "Sorry Mona, but that position lies solely with you. You're Red Leader's wife, and in the event he can't lead, you need to. Me and Pat would be the ones leading if something happened to you." Paul says and Mona whines. "This is stupid...I won't have to act like Tord, will I?" Patryk shakes his head. "No, but you have the power of passing executive orders if Ivan needs them approved by Red Leader." Mona nods, looking at their new front door. She then looks to the keys in her hand and sighs. "This...sucks. A lot." She sits the keys down on the island in the kitchen before looking over her shoulder at her temporary right hand men. "I'll be back. Please don't destroy our new apartment while I'm gone." She teases and the two blush. "We would never..." Paul mumbles and Mona leaves.
Mona wanders down the lonesome apartment halls, heading toward the elevator. She already has her story straight, knowing what she wants to say to Edd and the others (granted if they even wanted to associate with her). Letting out a sigh, she presses the down button, waiting for the elevator doors to open before slipping in and pressing the number 1. From what she was told from Eduardo, who was moving onto the same floor as the gang, they were in three separate apartments: Edd was in 118, Matt was in 122, and Tom was in 124. Apparently, while Tom was out of the house, he bought the whole first floor. The elevator dings and Mona steps out, nearly running into someone. "Ah, my bad." She apologizes. "Hey there Mona." She smiles and looks up at Mark. "Hey...how are you and Eduardo holding up...? I talked to him not too long ago." Mark nods. "Yeah, he mentioned that...but I didn't know you moved in here too." Mona shifts. "Yeah...um...after the accident, I just decided to stay with my friends until I could afford to go back to Norway...I decided on this place on a whim because of Eduardo." God she hates lying through her teeth. Mark nods once more and pats Mona's shoulder. "Well, you take care now. See you around? Me and Eduardo are living in 129 if you ever want to come by." "Definitely...see you later, Mark." She waves and the two continue on their separate ways.
Mona stops in front of apartment 118, frowning and growing increasingly nervous. She hoped that Edd would be the only one home but she could hear Matt and Tom bickering behind the door. She takes a deep breath and knocks. "Are you expecting anyone, Edd?" Tom's muffled voice asks. "No I'm not...maybe it's the landlord?" Footsteps approach the door before it opens. Mona looks up at the brunette male, instinctively touching her bandages on her nose. "Hey Edd..." Mona squeals as she's lifted into the air and spun around. "You're okay! Oh gosh, we haven't heard from you in a while and I was scared that something happened when you went on that hill..." Mona shakes her head, leaning into the green clad male. "No no...I'm okay...but I had my friends take me to the hospital because it still was a pretty nasty gash..." Silence hangs in the air before Tom speaks. "So...um...did you...find anything?" He asks softly, and Mona knows what he is trying to imply. Though, she doesn't know if she should answer truthfully. Lying would make things worse not only now, but possibly in the future. Besides, with the look on Tom's face, it seems like he's worried about Tord's fate. Even if he was the one who shot him down. After deciding on an answer, Mona looks to Tom. "Um...yeah. And he's in intensive care..." She is sat down as Edd and Tom look at each other. "So...he's alive?" Mona nods.
Tom drops to his knees, running a shaky hand through his hair. "Oh my god...that's...that's amazing news..." Edd kneels beside him as Mona watches on in confusion. "You didn't...want him to...?" Tom shakes his head vigorously, his usual void eyes now white with fear. "Of course not! That day, with the harpoon gun, I was thinking of one thing and one thing only: Edd and Matt's safety along with yours, Mona. It was...It was only after we left the rubble of our old house when I started panicking." Edd frowns and looks at Mona. "Why don't you come inside? I'm sure Matt would like to hear the news. And...ah, nevermind. Let's just go in." Mona helps Tom up and walks into Edd's apartment, greeting Matt with a tired smile. "Hey Mona! It's good to see you again!" "Same here, Mattycakes...but I do have some news..."
Mona has since seated Edd, Matt, and Tom at Edd's kitchen table. She sits in the fourth and final seat, petting Ringo as she purrs in her lap. "So...like Tom and Edd know, um...Tord is...in intensive care." Matt's eyes widen but Mona continues. "And I know the location and which room but...I'm not so sure if you guys actually want to see him or—" "Of course we want to see him!" Edd blurts out but Mona casts him a sad glance. "I understand that, but I feel like I should, uh, warn you all." She pets Ringo and chews on her lip. "Physically, the doctors are amazed he even survived. His injuries were extensive and they're predicting the complete loss of his right arm..." Tom tenses at this statement. "...But mentally, Tord isn't very okay. When I got to see him after he was stabilized...he told me he should have died in the explosion...and that he really regrets hurting you guys." Edd looks down at his hands before looking Mona right in the eyes. "Take us to him...please." Mona was about to protest before she remembered her current position. "...Alright. Let me call my friends real quick."
"Hey Mona...do you need anything?" Patryk asks after he answers Mona's call. "Actually Pat...I'm gonna need you and Paul to figure out a seating arrangement to fit three extra people." "Why's that?" Mona smiles, pacing as she talks. "I think I know how to help Tord out of this little problem. Once you figure something out, come down to apartment 118." She looks behind her to make sure there isn't anyone in earshot. "And wear something casual. They don't know about the army." "Yes ma'am." Mona hangs up and sighs. She enters Edd's apartment once more, smiling. "Well, I just got off the phone with them. They're going to figure out seating arrangements and then they'll come down and we'll all go out together." "Wait, what do you mean 'come down?'" Tom asks and Mona blushes in embarrassment. "Ah, sorry, I forgot to mention that we live here now. But just for a year. I actually called at the last minute because of Eduardo!" Matt tilts his head in confusion. "But why only a year?" "Well, once Tord recovers enough, we're going back to Norway. Once he's ready, we'll get married and just live a quiet life in our hometown." Edd looks bummed at the news, but doesn't speak. A knock at the door makes Mona stand. "That must be them! Are you all ready?"
As it turns out, Paul was the only one who showed. The only available space in the rental to accommodate the extra person was the trunk, so Patryk opted to stay at the apartment and unpack. Mona smiles and looks at the trio. "This is my good friend Paul. He'll be our chauffeur to Tord." Paul seems to double take. "Mona, er du sikker på at dette er en god idé?" He whispers and Mona nods. "Hvis Tord ikke får se hvor bekymret de er for ham, blir han aldri frisk igjen..." She then smiles and claps her hands together. "Alright everyone, let's get this show on the road!"
The ride to the hospital was silent and admittedly tense. Mona could tell how anxious everyone was, but she knew this was the best course of action for Tord to heal as quickly and as effectively as possible. Once they park, she has to stop Edd from running in. "It's okay, Edd. You're panicking. Let's take some deep breaths as we walk together, yes?" Was he breathing heavily? He didn't even know until Mona pointed it out. "Oh...yeah, right." He lets Mona hug his arm as she leads them all inside.
"Everything is going to be alright."
