I heard my phone ring and I picked it up. It was Darren.
"Hey Dare, what's up?" I said into the phone. I haven't been over there for a couple days because of the little tiff I had with Kelsy, so we haven't really spoken since our little argument we had, and the awkward apology.
"Hey. Do you wanna hang out or something? I miss you." He said. I bit my lip, looking down at my lap. Should I? If we get into another argument it's only going to make things worse. But I do want to talk to him, even though he's confusing me at the
moment. But then again what boy in my life isn't confusing me right now.
I closed my eyes, sighing deeply. "Fine. When?" I asked.
"Today Like, right now? I wanna see you." He said, the excitement in his voice leeching its way through the phone.
"I'll be over in like, 15 minutes" I said, hanging up the phone. I hopped off the stool stool I was sitting on and scooped up my car keys. I walked into the living room, where my pareats were,
"Hey guys, I'm going over Keisy and Dares house." I said.
"Okay." My mom said, waving over her shoulder. I rolled my eyes, leaving the living room and heading out of the house
I got in the car leaving my house. Is this a good idea? I don't really want to have to deal with the drama if it happens. Like, I don't think anthing drastic will happen but if we start arguing about Ryker I know It'll go down in flames quickly.
I silently drove to their house, making it there in about fifteen minutes of so, like I predicted. I got out the car and walked right into the house, not bothering to knock. I've done it a million times before, they're used to it by now.
"Hello?" I said as I walked into the house.
"Mason?" I heard Darren say from upstairs,
"Yeah it's me, I'm coming up." I yelled, making my way up the stairs, I made it to the top and looked down the hallway. Darren was leaning against the door frame of his room, looking at me.
"Hey." I said, feeling a bit awkward. The last time we talked was friendly but pretty awkward towards the end, so this is weird. I don't want to end up back in another situation like that.
"Hey." He said back, sending me a smile. I smiled back, feeling that tension and awkwardness slip away just a bit.
I walked over to him, hugging him. "I'm sorry, I know we already said that but I wanted to say it again." I said, trying to melt the rest of the tension away. I could feel him read a little bit as he hugged me back .
"Me too. I do get way too overprotective and I need to learn how to control that. Now enough with the mushy stuff." He said, pulling away from me. I smiled, slipping past him into his
room.
I hopped onto the bed, sitting down and looking at him. He sat next to me, leaning against the headboard of his bed. "Hey." He
said.
"Hmm?" I turned to him and he had this curious look on his face.
"You're probably not gunna want to talk to me about this but. what exactly is your relationship with Ryker?" He asked
"Do you really want to know?" I asked.
"Yes. Please. It would make me feel better if you told me about it." He said. "I'd rather know and be in the loop, than be oblivious and not know how to help you in the long run."
"Well. I mean I couldn't tell you, I dont really know my damn self." I said truthfully. I needed to let him know, he's my best friend. And if what Kelsy implied earlier is true....
