Y/n's POV

Today started as normal as possible while the ends turned out completely different.

Let's give you a bit of a back story. I grew up in a small town just outside of Austin, Texas, until my family farm was taken away by the bank, from my parents, and family. I was only 5 years old at the time. One year later my parents and I were homeless, living on the side of the street. My parents tried for months to get some kind of job so they could afford food for dinner, but they could never find a job. When they stooped they turned me into CPS (Child Protection Serves) Where I spent the last 3 years being bounced around foster homes until I was taken to my current group home.

This starts to lead us to the present day, some of the foster homes were nice while others were not so nice. I believe I've been bounced around 15 different foster homes I'm not sure on the exact number but it's up there. Now that I've been staying at this current group home in New York City. I know right how in the world can I get from Texas to New York, I'm honestly not sure but I'm here. This current group home specializes in troubled kids even though I'm not troubled like most kids my age. I suffer from mental and physical trauma, which leads to panic and anxiety attacks at random times, as well as physically harming myself and others. Because of the constant moving around my mental issues have never been treated.

This leads us to where I currently am, I'm in a small cafe in New York City that my best friend James' parents own. They pay me under the table to clean up at night since I'm underage. His parents have taken me in and watch over me from time to time when my life starts to feel like nothing after a beating given by my current caretaker her name is Ms. Bush. They take care of me and watch over me making sure that I don't myself or others.

While I was putting away dishes and cleaning for the night, there was a knock on the front door of the cafe. A young blonde woman was holding onto her coat for dear life while the rain down poured onto her. I quickly unlocked and opened the door for her.

"I'm so sorry for the late night stop I just need a coffee and somewhere warm to stay for a few minutes before I head home. I hope you don't mind." The stranger spoke while shrugging off her jacket.

"It's no problem at all, I was just cleaning up for the night, let me get someone to make your coffee," I spoke slowly not looking into her eyes but rather down to my feet. I made my way behind the counter to go upstairs, but she spoke before I got to the stairs.

"I don't need the coffee, you can continue to clean I will be out of your hair in a few minutes," She spoke softly I turned around to find her sitting in a booth shivering.

"It's okay I will get someone anyway, I 'm almost done here anyway," I spoke as smoothly as I could as I felt a panic attack approaching speaking to new people tends to send me spiraling into a panic.

When I made it upstairs I collapsed to the floor. My spiraling thoughts brought me into a full-blown attack. Thinking back to every time I've met a new person not knowing what could happen. The only person that knows about everything that's happened is Tammy, James' mom. She's the only mother figure I've had since I lost my parents.

Eventually, I calmed down enough to notice Tammy holding me on her lap swaying back and forth. letting me calm down on my own time. As I started to cry because I was coming back to reality she spoke;

"It's okay your safe, Pat and Patty went down we saw the woman on the cameras she seemed purely friendly. I know you will be okay. It's almost 10 pm you need to get back group home before Karen decides to take it out on you that you were late. " As she spoke she never stopped swaying I nodded and started to get up.

 Slowly got up from Tammy's lap using the wall to hold me up because I was still shaking. "Thank you, I will be back tomorrow making to finish the job."

 "You don't need to be back tomorrow to work unless you're going to be here to hang out and do some homework. I don't want to work tomorrow especially since I know you're not going to be sleeping much tonight. "

I nodded in response not trusting my words anymore. I gave Tammy a hug and a thank you before heading down the stairs. Since James isn't home for the week I have to go back to the group home. I gave Pat and Patty a hug and goodnight before I made my way out of the cafe.

I looked to see if the lady was still there and she wasn't. Making my way home was rougher than I thought it would be. Usually, the walk only takes about 10 minutes but with it pouring it's gonna take me 20. As I walked I kept my head down, thinking I know the route like the back of my hand.

At least that's what I thought but when I looked up I was completely lost not knowing where I was because the more I walked the more I realized I have never been to this side of town, I looked for street signs but I couldn't see them because of the rain. Instead of getting more lost, I decided to turn around and walk back the way I came hoping to find my way to the group home.

Upon walking back I walked right into someone and my shaking legs made me fall back to the ground. when I looked up I didn't think it would be the same woman from the cafe offering her hand to me.
