The sun is shining in my face. Birds are chirping. Someone's breathing calm next to me. My eyes are still closed. A leave is falling on my chest. The wind rushes through the trees. Slowly, I breathe out. A tear is running down my face.

I'm lying on a sleeping bag on the forest floor. A warm chest beneath me rises and lowers evenly. A hand is wrapped around my hip. My left hand hurts.

I open my eyes.

Yesterday was a rough day so I went on a walk in the forest with Eddie. To escape.
Yesterday my sister Eve and I had a big fight.
Yesterday she lost control and broke my hand.
Yesterday I cried myself to sleep.

Suddenly he opens his eyes.

"Morning sweetheart!", he says in his morning voice. Another tear is running down my face. "Hey darling don't cry, come here," he says and hugs me.

The closeness to him, his care and the events of last night overwhelm me. I can't hold back my tears. I'm starting to cry. Eddie's still holding me in his arms and rubbing gently over my back.

We sat like this for about two hours. But then it suddenly starts to rain.

"I think we should go!" I say while pulling my nose up and drying the tears.

Because I didn't want to go home we went to our favorite diner. Marry's diner!

As I was sitting down I thought about my parents. Without saying a word I stand up and walk to the telephone. I enter the number and wait. "Mrs Evans here, how can I help you?" Says the person at the other end of the listener. It's my mum. "Hey mum it's me Rose! I just want to say that I'm fine. Eddie's with me you don't have to worry about me!" I tell her.

"ROSE EVENS HOW DARE YOU TO RUN AWAY IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT!" She screams upset.

"Mum listen, Eve completely freaked out and I didn't want to be in her way. She broke my hand! She was out of her mind!" I tell her.

"So you're saying you ran away from her?" She says frightened. "Yeah, I did! Why?" I ask her confused. "Because we can't find her!" She screams upset.

What? They can't find her? Maybe she ran away too and hid somewhere... So not a big deal! Or...?

"I'm coming home," I say and hang up without waiting for her response.

"Eddie! I have to go home. My parents can't find Eve. I think she ran away too but she's 11. She's so young! They are worried." Eddie stands up and goes to the door, ready to leave.

"You coming?"
