Levi's POV:

After Tessa left for the medical wing, I remained in the mess hall, confused because I couldn't understand why my emotions wouldn't let me think straight. I need to focus on the mission, but it keeps getting away, so I take a deep breath to calm my thoughts. I am reminding myself of why I am in the Scouts in the first place. 'The task is important. If we don't achieve our goal, then we won't get to be on the surface. I need to get my head straight before this expedition. Which means I have to distance myself from Tessa.' I said to myself, only to feel the twinge of pain in my heart because I didn't want to distance myself from Tessa. Instead, I wanted more than anything to let her in. When I open my eyes, I see Furlan and Isabel staring at me while remaining silent, but I know what they are thinking, "Don't start." I demand as I look away and lean against the table.

After Furlan and Isabel walk over to me, Furlan crosses his arms, "She has messed with your head, hasn't she?" He asks with a brow raised, but I remain silent as I stare at the doors, "Levi?" Furlan sternly asks, yet I don't say anything, but that doesn't stop Isabel from snapping at him, "Why are you acting like this, Furlan?" She snaps, "Tessa has been the only one that has been kind to us and hasn't judged us because we're from the Underground." She defends, only for Furlan to look at her, "It could be a trick," He suggests, which grabs my attention, and I turn to glare at him, "That man told us that Tessa was in the Military Police, not the Scouts. How is it possible that she was here when we arrived?" He questions before seeing my cold glare. Isabel gets between us and focuses her emerald-colored eyes on Furlan, "Furlan, you don't know why Tessa is here. You can't just accuse her because you haven't tried to get to know her." She defends, and Furlan scoffs, "Oh, and you know her so well?" He asks, and Isabel narrows her eyes, "Getting to have late-night chats for one night doesn't count, Isabel." He says, only for Isabel to growl, "Tessa told me why she got transferred here!" She snaps, "Would you get your head out of your ass for once in your life?!" She rhetorically says.

I couldn't believe what I was hearing right now. Furlan was accusing Tessa of being a distraction while Isabel was defending her. I didn't want to accept the possibility of Furlan's accusation being true. Would Tessa be against us? Or was she in the dark about the whole thing? I realized I didn't learn why Tessa was here because she hadn't said anything, but honestly, we hadn't time to talk. So how does Isabel know the truth about Tessa's transfer, and I don't? I look away from Furlan and Isabel and sigh, "Isabel, how did Tessa get transferred to the Scouts?" I ask while I clench my fists, and Isabel turns to look at me, "I am not telling you. It's not my story to tell," She answers, "You can ask her in a few minutes." Isabel replies and walks off from us. While Isabel walks away, Furlan looks at me, "Levi, we must be careful and focus on this mission. The only people we can trust are each other." He explains, and I sigh, "Yeah, I know," I answer, then look at Furlan, "But something is telling me that Tessa isn't trying to be the person you make her out to be. She has been through enough to make sure no one sees the pain she is holding in. I wish you would understand that, Furlan." I justify before walking away.

While walking to the medical wing, everyone remains silent and apart. We never fought like this, so there was a lot of tension. After entering the hallway, we went to opposite ends of the doors of the medical wing. While facing the doors, I notice Kip staying by my side, which surprised me because he's been like this since Tessa returned from Trost. I lean over to pet Kip's head and sigh, "Good boy." I whisper, causing Kip to bark before resting beside my feet. I look up to see Isabel smirking at me, and I shake my head before I hear the sound of footsteps on the other side of the doors, and I see Tessa step out. While Tessa studies the file in her hands, I take in her appearance like I did this morning. The rustling of her long curls while a red tint painted her delicate cheeks to the biting of her bottom lip as she read the document made me flustered because she looked adorable. Before Tessa welcomes us, she sees us standing in different spots as her sky-blue eyes bounce from Isabel to Furlan, then to me. When our eyes met, I could see the sense of concern in Tessa's eyes, and I couldn't look away even if I wanted to. I could tell by the concerned expression that she was wondering what happened since she left thirty minutes ago to make us separate from each other.
