While walking into the courtroom, Tessa joins Levi and Erwin, with Mikasa and Armin there too. Tessa finally pops her wrist back into place as she stands beside Levi, who raises a brow, "Why are you popping your wrist?" He asks in a low whisper, and Tessa sighs, "Too much writing caused it to lock up," She lies, hoping Levi will believe her, yet he looks at her with his brow still raised, "I'll be fine." She reassures him, and Levi sighs, "Okay, but I still think there's something wrong." He admits, and Tessa nudges him, "We'll talk about it later, okay?" She asks, and Levi nods. They hear the doors slamming, indicating that Eren is now in the courtroom, and Tessa has to subtly grab Mikasa's hand when she hears her gasp, to reassure her everything will be fine. However, her sky-blue eyes go cold as she glares at the man who had seized her wrist earlier, "Fucking prick." She mutters through gritted teeth as she lets go of Mikasa's wrist and puts her hands behind her back.
After the guards lock Eren onto the podium of the center of the room, there is soft muttering from the citizens, Military Police, and Garrison, yet the Scouts are silent. Everyone watches Eren look around the room before another opening of doors draws their attention to the stand where Premier Zachary is entering. When sitting down, Zachary begins reading the papers about Eren, to which Eren answers if Zachary asks a question. As expected, Zachary allows the Military Police to go first with their proposal. Nile clears his throat, "Thank you. My name is Nile Dawk, and I am the Commander of the Military Police," He announces, then reads from the papers in his hand, "Our recommendation following an exam of his body that subject Eren Yeager should be disposed of immediately." He declares, which is what the Scouts were expecting. Nile proceeds with his declaration that due to Eren's help in the battle of Trost, the Military Police will still deem him a fallen warrior of humanity.
Before Nile can continue, someone interrupts him, "This is unacceptable!" They yell, which causes everyone to look in the direction of where it came from. Tessa groans because she knows who it is, "You have got to be fucking kidding me." She mutters while pinching the bridge of her nose. Pastor Nick, another person Tessa doesn't see eye-to-eye with. She has lost count of the many times they have argued in the trials as his voice echoes, "He's nothing but a vermin that has defiled and infiltrated the sanity of our Walls." Nick yells while pointing at Eren. Luckily Zachary tells Pastor Nick to calm down before he continues prattling on. With Pastor Nick now silent momentarily, Zachary turns to look at Erwin, Levi, and Tessa, "Now, I would like to hear from the Scout Regiment." He announces. Erwin begins speaking, "As the Commander of the Scouts, I, Erwin Smith, propose the following," He states before looking at Eren, "We agree to accept Eren into our ranks, reinstating him as a soldier and utilize him with his Titan ability in repairing Wall Maria. That is all." He announces.
While everyone exchanges glances, wondering why Erwin didn't push for anything more, the Captains beside him and two Section Commanders on the balcony know this is all part of the plan. Yet Zachary raises a brow, "So that is all?" He asks, and Erwin nods, "Yes, sir. With Eren's assistance, I'm confident we can retake Wall Maria," He states, "I believe our utmost goal should be clear." Erwin adds, and Zachary narrows his eyes, "Quite bold. If given clearance in the matter, what is your plan? Since Eren sealed the hole in Trost." He asks, to which Erwin looks away from Eren, "We shall dispatch from the Calaneth District in the east, and from there, we will make our way from Shiganshina. We can establish a new route from scratch." He says, only for a man from the Trading Group to slam his hands on the wooden wall, "But that's insane! Shouldn't we seal the rest of the holes instead of this?!" He yells, "Our time and money should go there because that's the only part the Colossal can break! If we do that, then we shall be safe again!" He preaches while throwing his hands up.
Tessa scoffs as she looks at the man, "And this is going just the way I expected." She admits while crossing her arms. The merchant glares at the three leaders, "We don't have time for any more of your childish antics or pointless heroics. We need to seal these walls now!" He yells, and Levi clicks his tongue, "Tch. Squealing like that won't get you nowhere, pig," He snaps, and the merchant shuts up, "While we are busy bolstering our defenses, do you think the Titans will stand idly by?" He rhetorically asks, "Also, who are you expecting to do this since you mentioned that 'we' can't afford it? Does that mean you're speaking for anyone besides your fat merchant friends?" Levi adds. Before the merchant can speak, Tessa shakes her head as she steps forward, which causes everyone to look at her, "Don't even think about trying to change your statement because it's not altering the fact you only care about yourselves!" She says, "You have already condemned our people, who need I remind you are already struggling with what little land they have left! So don't feed everyone here that bullshit!" She snaps as her sky-blue eyes narrow at the man, who now has a hand over his chest, "All I'm saying, Captain Tessa, is that we only want to seal the gates to live." He pleads, but Pastor Nick slams his hand on the wooden post as he begins preaching to the man.
