I tried as much as possible to concentrate in class. I loved financial accounting I just didn't like the teacher. Lunchtime came and I totally forgot about Jasmine's idea and I was hoping she would too. She came to my class to find me. She was in the Art's department and Sophia was in science. Jacob was in the technical department and so was David but Benji was in science. We both walked to the garden in silence and she told me she'll be back with Temi. Okay, this was a really bad idea. But it'll be weird if after everything she doesn't see me.
I sat on one of the benches in the garden. The garden in Crestwood was really pretty with different flowers everywhere giving it a fairytale look and also quiet. I used to love it here but I haven't been here this term. I made a mental note to come here more often. I turned to take it all in when I noticed a figure and not just any figure. It was Jacob.
"Hey" I said approaching him to which he replied with a 'hi' of his own. "This is the last place I expected you to be" I said laughing.
"And why's that?" He asked with a smirk.
"You don't look like a flower type of guy" I said shrugging. A smile still in my face. He just laughed.
"Okay Miss know-it-all, what if I am a flower type of guy?" Jacob asked with a raised eyebrow.
"It doesn't really fit that bad boy persona don't you think?" I said teasingly.
"You're funny but you're also right about one thing" he said looking away from me. "I didn't come here for flowers. I came to clear my head". Just as I was about to ask what was bothering him, I heard voices. Voices belonging to Temi and Jasmine. I quickly hid behind a bush and dragged Jacob with me. "What are you...." He didn't get to finish that sentence before I used my hand to cover my mouth and used a finger to tell him to be quiet. He just pushed my palm away a bit roughly and rolled his eyes.
"So, yeah that's how we all became friends" she said with an awkward laugh. Her eyes searching around. They both sat down on the bench I was previously sitting on.
"You seem pretty close with Kemi by the way" she asked and he shrugged.
"We're okay. I mean she's pretty cool" he said nodding.
"And do you think anything might happen between you too?" She said jumping right in.
"What is she talking about?" He whispered.
"Can you be quiet for a minute? Geez" I whispered back and continued listening to the conversation to catch Temi's reply.
"Anything like how?" He asked suspiciously.
"Like dating wise?" she says shrugging.
"I don't see her that way" he said shaking his head. It shouldn't have hurt but it did. Not much but it still did. "She's a friend nothing more" he said as if he was trying to reassure her of something. The 'nothing more' really struck a nerve and even Jacob was looking at me confused and concerned. I am fine.
"You know, I actually thought you called me here to talk about us". I froze. When was there an 'us' . Abi a them?? You know what I mean.
"Which us? There's no 'us' " she said shaking her head looking around frantically for me.
"I like you. I like you a lot" he said his eyes becoming serious.
"Did you know?" Jacob asked beside me.
"Not a single clue" I said shaking my head. Did she like him back?? That was the question we should be asking.
"So, what do you say?" He asked smiling slightly.
