Dinner yesterday went by really slowly. It was super tense. I hated it.

I'd be lying if I said I was thinking about my mom's question from yesterday. I shoved it deep into the back of my mind. In a cell with an iron bolt locked with a door that has no key. It made my head spin yesterday so it's better not to even remember the question. Luckily, she hasn't revisited the topic.

I'm lying face up in bed thinking of ways to avoid school tomorrow. I could try to almost get run over by a car again but my mom would probably think I'm suicidal and lock me up in a mental facility. I could purposely twist my ankle while running down the stairs but that hurts. A lot. I could lock the door to my room and not get out tomorrow but dad has a spare key. This is the worst. When did I stop loving school, I think, letting out an exasperated breath.

         Knock knock.
I don't move. I just stare straight up at the ceiling. Go away.
"Can I come in?" a familiar voice asks. No. I want to say that I'm not in the mood for visitors but I don't and eventually, the door opens revealing Sophia in a baggy tee-shirt and baggy blue jeans paired with her bright white sneakers.

"Hi" she greets while I sit up resting on the headboard. "Your mom let me in. Told me you were in here too"

"I see" is all I say.  I'm not sure what I'm seeing but it came out and I can't possibly take it back.

"Are you doing okay?" she asks and tentatively takes a step towards me.

"I've been better" I reply with a shrug.

"Wanna talk about it?" she asks again while sitting by the foot of the bed. It's obvious she's trying to keep a distance. Not sure when I asked for her company in the first place.

"Is there something we should be talking about?" I retort. "Maybe we should talk about why you're here" I say with a raised eyebrow.

"I just wanted to see you" and then there's a pause. I turn to fully face her searching silently with my eyes what the problem is but she averts my gaze. "So...so your mom said you've been eating less"

"I see" I say again and she huffs. Why are they so up in my business? "Is that why you're here?"

"Well, I missed you a lot. Let's go out" she offers.

        "We have school tomorrow"

"School schmool. We won't be long" she says. This sentence deserves an award. The Sophia that I know would never go out on a school night or a day before school. She's always trying to catch up even when we'd still learn the exact same thing the next day.

"My bed is super comfortable right now" I reply and twist about to prove it.

"Just get up your lazy ass, Kemi" she snaps her patience thinning out.

       "And if I say no?"

"I'm going to count to three. If you're not up before then, you won't like me. At all" she threatens.

        "You can't....."I start.

"One" she yells raising her index finger and closing her eyes. Are we really doing this?

         "Soph, stop"

          "Two" I guess we are.
I've seen Sophia mad before and I'm not sure I'm ready to experience that again. Don't let the glasses fool you."I'm up" I scream and jolt out of the bed. "I need to take a shower though"
