Bakugo trailed behind Kaminari and Kirishima, Mina far ahead of the group.
"How did you morons talk me into this? Where are we even going?" Bakugo growled, his hands in his pockets as they walked.
"Chill out, dude! This is going to be fun!" Kaminari promised, the tents he was carrying starting to get a little too heavy.
"Yeah, come on, Bakugo, don't be such a downer! We're doing what our ancestors did: roughing it in the woods! It's the manliest activity I can think of!" Kirishima added, holding up the bags full of food and supplies as he talked.
"Hey, you guys are being too slow! Hurry it up!" Mina called from ahead of them, too excited to wait for them.
Kirishima came up with the idea of going camping during the weekend, and after the success of the festival, Aizawa thought it would be okay as long as they stayed within the confines of the school campus. The campus was surrounded by a thick forest, big enough to get lost in. So, as an extra precaution, Hound Dog was stationed to survey the forest in case any criminals decided to show up and would be able to hear if anyone called for help.
Despite Bakugo's aggressive persona, he kind of wanted to go. It was a nice break from the dorm life he was forced to partake in and he didn't have to be around Deku for a couple of days. But he was too prideful to admit that to Kirishima, so he maintained his sullen attitude.
"Alright, this looks like a good spot!" Mina exclaimed, gesturing towards a small clearing in the woods big enough to set up camp in.
"Great, because my arms are tired!" Kaminari said breathlessly, dropping the tents he was holding.
"Okay, so what should we do first? Set up the tents? Start a fire?" Kirishima asked.
"Why not both? Kaminari and I will set up the tents, you two should look for firewood!" Mina suggested.
"Great idea, Mina! I can use my quirk to chop off branches and Bakugo can use his to light the fire!" Kirishima exclaimed, punching his hardened fists together.
"Yeah, just don't go crazy like the time you tried to light the stove at training camp," Kaminari told Bakugo as him and Mina started putting the tents together.
"Whatever," Bakugo muttered, following Kirishima back into the trees.
Kirishima whacked at any branch he could reach with his hardened hands, tearing it off from the tree as Bakugo picked up branches from the ground. Both of them were silent as they did this, until Kirishima decided to say something.
"Hey, Bakugo, something's been bothering me lately. Ever since the League of Villains captured you, you've been a lot quieter. Are you...doing okay?" Kirishima asked, his voice genuine.
Bakugo froze. He hated it when people brought that up, why did people have to constantly remind him of his failure? All Might was able to make him feel better about it, but it still bothered him. If only he had payed more attention, if only he was stronger...
"I'm perfectly fine!" he answered defensively, "And you were the one who got a special internship! You never told me what kind of stuff you did!"
"Yeah, sorry, but I'm not supposed to talk about it," Kirishima replied, chopping down another branch.
"We're the only ones out here!" Bakugo angrily pointed out, "Just tell me!"
Kirishima sighed, giving in.
"Well...you know who Eri is, right?" Kirishima asked.
"I've seen her around..." Bakugo answered, resuming gathering sticks.
