We're chasing after the deer and trying to kill it, but we keep missing. Sarii is chasing after it too, so it won't get away. He's a very smart dog, and Naru trained him very well. As we got close to the deer, we missed again! It got away this time. I sighed to myself as I picked up my weapon, and we heard Sarii yelp like he was in pain. We went to see what he was yelping about, and we saw his tail on a trap.

I knelt down to calm him so he wouldn't be panicking when we got this trap off his tail. Naru got the trap off his tail, and he started barking. "Hey, hey, it's alright." Naru covered his tail with medicine to heal the wound. When that was done, he licked both of us as a thank-you. Naru picked up the trap and gazed at it. I gave her a big rock so we could break it, but nothing happened. Then we hear that loud thunder again, but it doesn't really sound like it. Naru and I picked up our stuff and went to see what all that noise was up in the sky. As we walked out of the woods, we saw something in the sky, like lighting and clouds that were moving strangely. It was the thunderbird that was signaling us, telling us that we were ready for our kühtaamia, for the hunt. It is time.

~Time skip~

"I remember when Father told me I was ready for my kühtaamia. My big hunt You were little. So Mother took you to gather medicine. And you
Y/N, your mother took you to gather wood to make fire." Taabe spoken, and I roll my eyes as I watch Naru aim her arrow at a redtail. "But Father and I went up into the hills. The rain was bad. Everything was wet."

I noticed Naru was falling asleep. "We crawled through the mud and my bowstring..." Naru starts snoring. "-...got ruined and-" Taabe notices, aims his arrow at the redtail, and shoots. Naru opens her eyes, and we both gasp. Taabe's arrow hits the bird. "You were sleeping." He said, "I was waiting for it to circle back. Now you're going to have to cross the river and get it." The dead redtail lands and hits the ground, and some children notice the bird. "Don't get your bowstring wet." Naru gives him a small smile. "Taabe," Naru said, Taabe turning his head to Naru. "This morning in the sky, we saw a sign. The thunderbird. Y/N and I have been practicing. It's time. We're ready for our kühtaamia." I nodded in agreement. "You really think you're both ready? You want to hunt something that's hunting both of you?" It was silent. Naru and I looked at Taabe, and we gave him a little smile.
