Chapter 17 - Golden

"Come on boys, you're meant to be on stage in five minutes! Quit with the make - up and hairspray and go out and perform for the fans!" Big Kev yelled down the corridor to the backstage room the boys were in. As per usual, Nathan was the last to leave the room, fixing his hair every five seconds, looking deep into his reflection from the mirrors on the wall in the corridor. Security led each member to a certain door which they were to enter the stage from.

A voice counted down from ten and the crowd screamed when it echoed 'one'. The atmosphere was pretty insane from where I was stood with Big Kev, at the side of the stage. I couldn't see further than about the fourth row because everyone was jumping and singing all over the place. Everyone knew the words to 'All Time Low' which the boys came on singing. I was surprised to be honest as the boys aren't as big as they could be yet, especially with singing a song no one really knew over there. 

I could see signs and banners filling the park we had taken ownership of for the show. It was Jay and the lads' first show in US for the year and Long Beach clearly didn't disappoint. 

Nathan took centre stage a few times, belting out only a few of their hit singles, with the crowd screaming and shouting his name and when Tom jumped off stage, the audience surged forward to catch a glimpse of him infront of their eyes.

Eventually, Nathan stood at the centre of the stage in his famous red blazer, with Tom and Max on his left stood on a balcony with the arms folded and smiling, with Jay and Siva doing the same on his right, Nathan began to speak.

"Now, I want to dedicate a very special song to a very special girl, who happens to be here tonight. Me and Jay wrote it a few years ago and have never had the opportunity to perform it over here. So this is our first American performance of 'I'll Be Your Strength', I hope you like it." Nathan said and the crowd roared enthusiastically.

Jay then turned his microphone on and asked,

"Nath, mate which stunning girl here today are you going to dedicate it to?" I frowned. He hadn't mentioned who he was dedicating it too. Maybe it was a girl in the audience who would have a little sob story and Nathan wanted her to know he was there for her, verbally if not physically. That was what I thought at least.

"Erm," Nathan said, looking uncomfortable and awkward as usual, "I want to dedicate it to an important girl in our lives," Nathan said pointing to his fellow band members. I smiled and so did Kev. 

"Come on mate, we have an award ceremony to attend," Max whispered into Nathan's ear piece as I heard it in mine.

Eventually, Nathan said he wanted to dedicate it to Kelsey. Yes, Kelsey. Therefore he meant, Kelsey Belle Hardwick. I sighed and muttered quietly as her and Nareesha were on the other side of the stage. 

Everyone 'aw'd' because they knew Kelsey was a good friend of Nathan's and nothing else. I tried to break a smile as Jay caught my eye during 'I'll Be Your Strength'.

The gig ended when the boys performed 'Glad You Came' and the boys bowed before running off stage and into the backstage area. 

Each member were then made to change into a suit and have their hair and make - up done. Of course the boys claimed they didn't wear it.

Nareesha and Kelsey had brought a selection of dresses over as they had had a chance to go over to the hotel.

"Jenny, which one are you choosing?" I looked at the five dresses on the table. There was a blue one, pink, white, black and purple.

I spent what felt likes hours looking at the dresses in awe and whilst everyone was having their make - up done, I tried on two of the dresses. The blue and pink whilst Kelsey took the white and Nareesha took the black.
