The company had long since stopped for the night, a day of walking and Thorin's little 'outburst' had drained the energy out of everyone, especially Bilbo, who was walking for two people. Dwarfs worked frantically to start a fire, as Bilbo and the Elvin woman sat off to the side, chatting here and there.

"When are you due?" She asked him out of the blue and the hobbit blushed a blood red,"there is nothing wrong with it, I do not judge." This calmed Bilbo slightly, a breath of relief leaving him,

"I am due nine months from now."

"So you got pregnant recently?"

"Yes, I have."

"Who is the father?"

That's where Bilbo took a sharp intake of breath. He hadn't really thought of telling everyone Thorin was the father, since they both were not on good terms, he didn't want to blabber who was the father.

"Well.."

"It's Thorin isn't it?"

"Yes, it is."

"I wish there was a better father for the child."

"Why do you say that?"

"The way he acted today, imagine how he is as a father. I'm not being malicious about his character, but the look in his eyes, I fear for that child."

"I will not anyone hurt this child, especially Thorin. This child will be the best raised child, I will make sure of that."

The red headed woman smiled, but the moment ended when a rustling in the bushes made the whole company stand, weapons raised and ready to strike.

"Is that a way to greet an old friend?"
