Thorin looked around him, the gold making him feel his sanest since he has been away from the mountain. He couldn't describe it, the color, the feel, even the smell of gold was so luring to him, it made life its self obsolete to him.
While he basked in the gold, the company watched on, with worry and confusion. Ever since they had returned to the mountain, Thorin had done nothing but yell about finding the stone, his bloody stone. Everyone worked day and night, well everyone but Bilbo and the tyrant himself. Watching his friends work themselves slowly to death trying to find a worthless stone that seemed more important to The King Under The Mountain than his friends life's. Bilbo decided to try to talk to the dwarf.
"Thorin?" Bilbo asked, wearily of what to say, not wanting to set him off. Thorin turned around and smiled,
"Ah! There's my favorite hobbit. How are you? To be honest, you look a little troubled."
"I am, what has gotten into you?"
"I don't understan-"
"This obsession, with the stone, its gotten out of hand."
"I need that stone."
"I reall-"
Thorin grabbed Bilbo's upper arms, his grip a little to tight, leaning in and baring his teeth like an animal,"That stone is now all I need to get this kingdom back together, I wouldn't except you to understand." Bilbo only nodded, promising himself never to ask again.
Meanwhile, as insanity crept into Thorin's mind, Gandalf was busy trying to stop the villagers (and two very rowdy elves) from starting a war on the dwarfs and his burglar on the mountain. You see, as the company pillaged the mountain for the stone, the town grew restless, wanting their share of the mountains treasures. When they didn't hear or see any dwarfs (or hobbit) they decided to take what they were promised and more, by force.
"Please, you do not understand-"
"We are tired of excuses! We need that gold now, to rebuild our fair city, back to it's original stance!"
The man that claimed to be the deputy of the town hobbled away, continuing to gather men and teens to their 'cause.' Not only that, the elves had left the city to go and retrieve reinforcements for the coming of the Orkans.
Gandalf knew this was bad, it was always bad when people came together, forming groups of men and children willing to die for the cause, all over something as worthless as gold. He couldn't stop it now, the wheels of war were beginning to spin.

Thorin thought he had one, was for sure the creature was dead, but here he lay, both the men's blades pointed at each other. The dwarf knew what he needed to do to kill the Orkan, but the question, the million dollar question that crossed his mind, was he willing to die to save Middle earth. Time seemed to freeze, the choice was his to make. Thorin knew what he had to do, this choice would either make him a hero or a villain. 'This is my only chance to make things right.' He thought and let the Orkan stab him, his own sword piercing the creature through the heart.
Bilbo finally made it to the frozen over waterfall, the cold air seemed to bite his skin as he scanned over the icy surface. The hobbit saw the Orkan, which made him happy, but that mood didn't last long when he saw Thorin. "No." He whispered more to himself than to anyone, and ran down to his lover.
"Thorin?" Bilbo cried and sat on his knees beside the dying dwarf, putting his head into his lap,
"It's okay Thorin, your going to be okay."
"Bilbo-"
"No, don't speak, the others are going to come and help patch you up and you will be just fine."
"Bilbo, there is not anything anyone can do." Thorin coughed up a fair among of blood before continuing,
"I am dying, and I want you to know I love you and our child. Raise it as your own, raise it to be the great person I know you can make it to be. And always remember....."
"Please don't strain yourself, let's look at the birds, see the birds."
Thorin spaced out then, his breathing slowing as the tears streamed down Bilbo's face. The hobbit continued to ramble on about the birds, watching as his lover took his last final breathe.
"Come back to me." Bilbo whispered and held Thorins head close. "Don't go please." He said this over and over, the phrase getting louder as the rest of the company finally joined Bilbo. It was heart breaking to watch the men grief, ecspicially Bilbo, who kept thinking,'I'm going to lose the baby next.'

*********time skip to when Bilbo arrives at his home**********

Bilbo's stomach bulged now, showing his pregnancy to the world as he arrived to a many hobbits carrying his stuff away. "What is this?" He cried when he arrived to his home, an auction taking place to get rid of his things, precious things.
"Master Bilbo! We got word you were dead!"
"I am not dead."
"How do we know you are not a fake?"
"I have proof."
"Show your proof then."
Bilbo sighed heavily and rooted through his bag upon his bag. He finally came across the contract he had signed to be the burglar for the company. It saddened him to look upon it's yellowing page but he had to show proof somehow.
"Here's your proof." He said firmly and handed over the paper. Bilbo didn't wait to go inside, as he hustled toward the door,"who is this Thorin Oakenshield, Master Bilbo?" The auctioneer questioned as his brown eyes bore a very curios glance.
"He was.." Bilbo knew of he said lover, things would be bad for his child, which had been discovered as a boy (thanks to Gandalf.) Bilbo finally found the most appropriate word for Thorin, that was true for him and his dead lover till the end of time,"He was my friend." And with those words he went inside.
This is the end. No more lose ends, no more beginnings. Yet, is it really the ending? I mean, things never truly do end do they? When things end, new things begin, even if that means loosing someone dear to you in the process. This is the end of one story, and the beginning of another.
((That's it. The end of this story. But hey, don't fret, I have wonderful news for you all. I am doing a sequel in a world where Bilbo raises the child!!! It will be called,"Let The Storm Rage On: Part Three." Till then.-SW))
