felix decided to bring changbin to b-20 for emotional support. having him nearby was comforting as felix typed away the first months of bc: year 9. chan had a pretty busy childhood. swimming, soccer, tennis, karate... chan was the golden child, and his parents adored him. felix didn't know what dirt there was that seungmin tried to dig up.
and in seungmin's room, changbin was like a kid in a store, poking fingers at anything in sight, reading through (what definitely were) private files, and pursing his lips or bulging his eyes at what he read. he treated seungmin's beloved "records" like gossip magazines.
beside the old computer, felix had positioned the egg to lay on its cradle like one would place a family portrait on their desk at work.
then, with the loud creaking of the door, seungmin barged in unannounced, and reached for his belt at the sight of changbin like a retired chief that still missed his old thug-chasing days. there was no gun, thankfully, and seungmin let his guard down when he noticed felix working by the corner.
cautious, seungmin walked up to check him. when he noticed felix was in year 9, he exclaimed: "you're behind schedule!"
felix frowned. "excuse me? i'm sacrificing all of my free time to help you!"
"well, it's not enough, apparently!" seungmin scratched his head like the stress had accumulated on his scalp. then he turned back to felix. "stay on the weekend. stay over school hours. take this as an extracurricular."
"i already have an extracurricular activity! i'm on the soccer team!"
"you?" seungmin looked him up and down. "you."
"got a problem with that?"
both felix and seungmin startled at it. changbin stood as tall as he could get, arms bulking up just a bit more as he crossed them around his chest like a very tight hug.
"no—" seungmin squeaked, then cleared his throat. "no, it's just... surprising. um, okay. what is he doing here, felix?"
"emotional support. got a problem?"
seungmin sighed. "whatever. as long as you speed. up." seungmin cleared his throat again, pranced to a coffee machine, and punched a button. the machine roared in the short silence. then he fished out a binder from inside his jacket and plopped it onto felix's desk. there was taeyang, kim written on its cover. "here. an incentive."
felix was quick to open the binder and flip through the pages. in a heartbeat, changbin materialized behind him, hungry for information. but everything felix read was mangled police talk and... disturbing crime descriptions. All peppered with unremarkable detective kim and astounding detective kim. what really bugged him was calm and collected, never uses force or raises his voice. felix crumpled the file. "that bastard!"
changbin agreed, "calm and collected my ass."
"thank you, seungmin."
"you're welcome."
"... for making me even madder!" felix tapped angrily at the keys. tap, tap, tap, tap. tap, tap. TAP TAP TAP!
---
later that day, felix had his bottom smacked for the first time in the locker room. he was already spent from working all day for seungmin, clicking on the keys like it was a full-time paid job (only in this case he was a lowly intern) and therefore, once he had a glimpse of the culprit, felix felt like screaming.
