"where are your parents?" changbin asked once felix had locked the door.
he stood there, a greek statue in the middle of the hall. was he uncomfortable to be alone with felix? well, after what he told him, felix wouldn't put it past him...
after pulling off the metaphorical mask from felix's face and revealing him as janet wilson, changbin unexpectedly ran his mouth and confessed his darkest secrets:
"i'm being blackmailed, felix," he had said, somber and darkly.
felix had just asked, "by who?" which had the same effect as if felix had just proposed getting on his knees and-
changbin had frowned at him and blurted, "i thought you knew who it was!"
which made felix feel obligated to bring him home. he already had an excuse beforehand: the egg project. but now, the need was reinforced! the universe works in mysterious ways, he thought.
however, there was a plan: use felix's brand new technological powers to help bring whoever was assaulting changbin to justice (if justice were felix's fists).
"they're... out of town," that wasn't a lie. "does it bother you?"
changbin jumped on his feet and turned abruptly to face felix, a hand scratching at his nape in embarrassment. "of course not! i mean, won't it bother them?"
felix took the key out of the hole, and swung the keyring on one finger.
"nope!" he said, assertive, "they let me bring friends here anytime!"
"oh," changbin glanced at him from the side. they had started walking, with felix leading them to his room. "do you bring people over often?"
felix, in a desperate attempt to be cool enough to tag along with someone as cool as changbin, mindlessly blurted out a, "yes! yes, of course," he babbled, "all the time!"
the rest of the journey to his room was silent, with only the creaking of the wood floor to muffle felix's extroverted inner voice that constantly compelled him into saying something stupid.
once in his room, though, felix bolted to his bed, untangling himself from the straps of his backpack. he settled it on the bed, delicately reaching for the egg, securely enveloped in the gym clothes felix had forgotten in his bag for a week. hopefully it was clean. he didn't want his (egg) child to get dirty!
he laid it out on the pillow, gently, then brought his hands together to rest on his own chest as he fondly stared at the pearly white shell being practically camouflaged in the identical color of the pillow.
there was a heavy thud right by his side, and when felix turned to see, right there was changbin, a hand still clutching the strap of his bag that had fallen to the ground. changbin had the strangest of expressions — was he disgusted or just constipated? oh, heavens, felix should have offered the bathroom. or water.
he cleared his throat, and the simple act seemed to startle the other: changbin's arm spasmed, making the bag jump and fall another time. felix only hoped there was nothing breakable in it.
"do you want some water?"
changbin's adam's apple bobbed like he was taking a big gulp off a glass of freshwater. felix had started to feel thirsty.
"no," changbin said.
"well," felix shifted on his bed, patted the space close to him, "sit, then."
changbin swallowed again. was he sure he didn't want a drink? nonetheless, he took a seat beside him. not the spot where felix gestured for him to sit, but a good three feet away from him.
