You were on your period which made you feel nothing but gloomy. You decided that you wanted to go to a diner and get some breakfast. Eggs and chocolate cake weren't exactly what you were craving. You go downstairs in a sweatshirt and walk past your brothers.
"Where you going, kid?" Darry asks.
"The diner."
"With who?"
"No one."
"Y/n I need more than that. How are you gonna get there, you don't even have a car."
"I'll walk." You weren't in the mood for conversation.
"Are you out of your mind? You'll get jumped in the broad daylight!"
"I'll be fine,"
"I'll drive you on the way to work," Darry insists.
"God damnit Darry can't you see I just want to go alone? If I wanted a ride I would ask!"
"Someone got up on the wrong side of the bed this morning," Soda mutters.
"Just let her go Darry," Pony says. You knew then that Ponyboy understood. He was trying to hint to Darry but he obviously wasn't getting the message. Darry glares at him but glances at Soda. He knows how much he hates him fighting with us.
"Fine just....Take care of yourself, alright?"
You mouth an I love you to Pony and walk out the door into the chill summer morning air. You thankfully get to the diner without any trouble and sit down at a booth. The waitress comes to get your order.
"A stack of blueberry pancakes and an orange juice please," you say. The waitress nods and disappears into the kitchen to put it in. When the food gets here, you eat while reading a book you brought from home. You stole it from Ponyboy but you were sure he wouldn't mind.
"A coffee, black," you hear a voice say. One that sounded like it was right in front of you. You put the book down.
"Dally?"
"Hey dollface," he says with a smirk.
"What are you doing here?"
"I stopped by your house for something and Superman told me to keep an eye on you," Classic Darry. You knew better than to think he would just let you out of the house alone like that. "but I would've came to find you anyways."
You pick up your book again and resume your business. You feel Dally looking at you. "I wasn't really looking for company," you say not looking up from the page you were on.
"That's too bad," he says. The waitress come with his coffee and sets it on the table. Suddenly you feel a sharp pain in your stomach. You groan as the cramps start to build up. You set the book down and hold your stomach hoping they would go away. Dally slides into the same side of the booth as you. He pulls out a bottle of pills from his pocket and holds them out to you. You quickly take them and down them with orange juice.
"How'd you know?" you whisper in pain.
"How could I not? You're at the diner alone looking like a bum, stuffing your face with food and reading. And you look like you didn't get much sleep either," he says grazing your eyebags with his thumb.
"Jeez thanks, Dal," you mumble bitterly, swatting his hand off your face.
"Ya know what I mean. Why would you go out when you're feeling like this, man?"
"I just wanted some food. Can you drive me home? I'm not feeling too hot."
"Sure thing."
Dallas takes you home and tucks you into your bed. He's about to leave when you grab his wrist.
"Stay. Please?" He doesn't say anything and just gets in next to you. Your eyes are closed but you feel his fingers brush hair out of your face. You eventually fall asleep and when you wake up your in Dally's arms.
