-ZACH'S POV-

I've never seen a girl like Kat before. She is gorgeous! Her red hair almost makes her green eyes glow! There was something in her eyes when we looked at each other too. But what was it? I heard from the guys that she's a spook(fan of the paranormal), that's perfect! We already have something in common.

"So what kind of board are you guys looking for?" Her blonde friend asks.

"What? Oh, no sorry we're actually looking for someone to interview for our show. Tell us a little bit about the paranormal activity around here," I say. I see Kat sit up a little straighter and perk up.

"Well, I don't know much about that stuff, but Kat does. She even started her own little investigation crew. What do you guys call yourselves?" Kat's friend answers.

"Uh, the LAGH. It stands for Los Angeles ghost hunters. Our slogan is "no laughing matter," Kat says proudly. God she's so cute.

"So do you guys skate?" She asks.

" Actually we've nev-" Aaron begins.

"Yeah we do, love skating!" I say cutting him off. Aaron and Nick both look at me with questioning eyes.

"Cool, maybe after the interview we could go boarding around town, show you the ropes," Kat says excitedly.

"Sorry we can-"

"Totally do that, right guys?" I say cutting off Aaron for the second time.

"Zach, can we talk to you for a minute?" Nick says dragging me out of the shop and into the rain.

"What's up?" I ask.

"We can't 'hang' with these girls, we're busy all day today! What are you doing?" Aaron yells. I look both of them in the eyes and they start to understand what's going on.

"So you like this chick hu?" Nick asks. I nod my head.

"She's perfect dude! She's cute and she's a spook! What more could I ask for?" I say ecstatically.

"Maybe a quieter voice," I hear behind us. I whirl to see Kat's blonde friend standing behind us.

"Oops," I mumble.

"Don't worry I won't tell her. I think you guys would be a good thing for her. Nobody else is as passionate about this stuff around here. Not even the other people in LAGH," she gets in my face," just don't hurt her, or you'll have to deal with me." I smile to myself. This is great! I get to actually hang out with a fellow spook! And it's not a sleeze ball like all the other ones. We walk back into the store and Kat looks up at Nick with big puppy dog eyes.

"We worked out some plans, and it turns out we can hang with you guys," he sighs.

"First we need to do the interview," Aaron says. Kat gets up from behind the cash register and me and me and the guys take a collective gasp. Kat's right whole right leg was replaced by a fake prosthetic one. She looks down at it and back up at us.

"Oh yeah, surfing accident," she says blushing.

"She refuses to go back in the water, no matter what you say," her friend says.

"You would too if you had lost a whole limb Shelly!" Kat retorts.

"Anyways, where do you want to do the interview?" Aaron asks.

"How about in the shop?" Shelly says.

"So Katherine, what do you know about the paranormal phenomena that's been happening around here?" Nick asks.

"It's actually Kat, my parents were huge hippies, so were Shelly's, hence the name Shelly," Kat corrects. Me and Aaron look at each other then back to Kat. She just shrugs.

"So Kat, what do you know about the ghosts?" I say this time.

" Well, I know that a lot of the deaths have been caused by tsunamis and murder. You know, 'he stole my wife now I have to exact my revenge' kind of thing. There are also a lot of drownings and shark attacks," she says calmly.

"Have you seen any of these ghosts?" I ask.

Yeah, tons of them! One time I saw this kid appear on the beach all pale and wet. He mumbled something about his mom and then disappeared. I had nightmares for weeks," Kat answers shivering.

"Has any of them been angry?" I ask.

"Oh yeah. There was one guy with red eyes that yelled at me to leave. Then I got this weird name scratched into my back," she says pointing to her back.

"Do you mind if we get it on film?" Nick asks.

"No problem," she says pulling up the back of her shirt. I gasp and almost fall to my knees when I see what was on her back. I big letters the word Mackeys was scratched from her shoulders to her hips.

"No way," I say shakily.

"I knew we should have gone to San Francisco," Aaron grumbles.
