-ZACH'S POV-

I couldn't believe how cozy Kat's house was. Everything about it was beautiful, just like her. I still can't believe how amazing she is. She's the perfect girl for me! I just hope I can be the perfect guy for her.

"It's customary for our guests to draw something on the wall when they arrive," She'll says nonchalantly handing each of us a piece of chalk. We all take our places in front of the wall and begin to draw. I look over at Aaron and he's drawn this intricately detailed tree with a heart carved in it. It's so well done it looks like an actual tree growing on the wall. Nick has drawn his wife and him holding hands. They're both so good at drawing. I wish I was. I put my chalk to the wall, and I start to draw. The chalk seems to dance around and twirl. As I take the chalk away from the wall I hear a muffled laugh behind me. I turn around to see Kat staring at my drawing.

"What? Is it that bad?" I ask.

"No, it's not bad, it's just, different," Kat says holding back a laugh. I look up and see a horrifyingly bad picture of a bird. It looks as if a third grader drew it and I can't help but chuckle.

"It's pretty bad, isn't it?" I laugh.

"No, you just need some pointers," Kat says sitting down next to me. She begins to draw a bird herself and I'm amazed at how detailed it is. She's trying to teach me about steadying my stroke but I can't seem to get it right.

"Why don't we just doodle, I'm no good at drawing birds anyways," Kat sighs.

"Okay, whatever you say Kitkat," I tease. She gives me a devilish look and I can't help but smile back. She picks up another piece of chalk and begins to draw a ghost. It looks cute more than anything and I can't help but try it myself. Mine ends up looking like a blob with eyes though.

"I guess we'll leave you two alone," I hear Shelly say. Kat and I continue to draw until I break one of the pieces trying to draw a flower.

"How dare you!" Kat jokes.

"How dare I , how dare you," I joke back. We start to push each other around and before I knew it we had covered ourselves in chalk dust.

"What in the world are you two doing?!" We hear someone yell behind us. We turn around to see Shelly glaring at us. I hope you're going to clean up after yourselves," she grumbles.

"Yes mother," Kat sighs. She begins to get up and I get a good look at her fake leg. Her shorts show the stub that used to be her leg and I get a little uncomfortable. Her "leg" has a strap that wraps around the remaining part of her leg and up her shorts. Most likely around her hip. The rest of her "leg" is chipped and dented and did colored. There are faint marks where people had written there names or little remarks about it. The whole thing kind of freaks me out, but not in a bad way. More in a want-to-understand kind of way.

"What are you looking at?" Kat says annoyed. I look up at her and realize I've been staring at her leg for longer than appropriate.

"No, I was just, I mean- its not like that, I was- uh what I mean to say is," I stutter. She puts her hand up and sits back down next to me.

"It's fine, I'm used to people staring. If you want a closer look you can have one," she says lifting up her shirt. I feel my face get hot ad turn away. I hear Kat chuckle. I hear a snap and something heavy land on my lap. I look back to see her "leg" latex across my legs. I gasp and almost want to shove it off myself, but I decide that would be rude. I have to look unchanged by this. I can't let her know this is weird to me. I pick it up shakily and turn it around inspecting every little inch of it like a detective. It's actually not so bad once I begin to see all the drawings on it and the nail polish on the fake toes.

"This is so cool," I say amazed. I look up at her and she looks really nervous. I glance to her legs and I'm taken aback. Appear you she notices.

"What? You think it's gross? You think I'm a freak don't you! You're just like the rest of them!" She says snatching her leg out of my hand and hopping out of the room. A minute later she has her leg on and a skateboard and storms out of the house. I get up and walk over to the kitchen to find everyone staring at me.

"Dude, what did you say?" Nick asks.

"I don't know. I didn't mean to do anything. She just got mad at me and left," I say apologetically.

"Don't worry it's not your fault. Se tends to get emotional about her leg. She almost beat the crap out of this guy for staring at her leg," Shelly assures, "she'll probably be skating around by the beach if you want to go find her."

"I'll do that," I say and walk out of the house.
