Months had passed since the Red Wedding. Joanna had given birth to her children. Twins. Eddard and Lyanna Lannister-Stark.
Ashter had been the one to help her.
Her heart was heavy as she looked at her two children every day that passed for every time she did, she saw Robb as well as she missed him and Cerenna.
She could only hope that Cerenna and Jeyne had gotten away safely but each day she loses hope and Greywind and Ashter had been the only reason she held on.
She found herself writing her grandfather often. He admitted that he wanted to harm Robb Stark but never kill him. He never wanted to hurt Joanna in that way.
His heart broke at the mention of his great-granddaughter missing and prayed Cerenna was found hopefully before her third name day. And he couldn't wait to meet Eddard and Lyanna.
Joanna however feared her children going to Kings Landing. Not because of her grandfather but because of her mother and brother. She feared Joffrey would kill her and her children and feared her mother would never accept them and simply allow Joffrey to do as he pleased.
She was also terrified to go to the wall. She was terrified of seeing Jon. She was scared that he'd hate her and blame her for getting Robb and most of his family killed.
She missed Lucion who was traveling with the Boltons as a spy. She missed Tyrion despite her slight hatred for him. She missed Myrcella and Tommen. She missed her mother and grandfather. But most importantly she missed her father.
All she wanted was for Jamie to hold her in his arms and tell her everything would be okay. That they would make it through this. Because they always did.
"My queen, what is it?" Ashter asked the woman softly
"It's my father. I miss him." Joanna whispered with a stoic expression.
Ashter didn't say anything after that. He just watched as the woman he cared for lost her feeling toward the world. He watched as the world around her mattered less after Robb was killed.
One thing he did notice was her hair became more silver than Gold.
Of course, her hair was still golden with black highlights. But there were parts of her hair that were silver. As silver as the late Targaryens. This of course worried Ashter as he didn't want to see the woman become like the Targaryens that came before her.
Sometimes he'd look over at her and catch a glimpse of her eyes and see a hint of purple causing him to look twice only to see her naturally green eyes.
"We need to stop somewhere. It is cold. The babes need to eat. And they are cold." Ashter spoke once more
"I know, but I can't... I have to get to the wall. I need to. I need to see Jon. He's the closest thing I have to Robb now and I need him." She told him with tear filled eyes
"But the children Jo..." he trailed softly
"I want too. But I need Jon. If you truly need to stop. We can. But not for too long." She said and he nodded his head.
...
Back at Kings Landing, Tywin and Cersei read Joannas recent raven.
Cersei could practically hear the pain in her daughters words. Regret filled her once she realized the consequences her actions had caused.
Her granddaughter missing.
Her daughter broken.
All because she had a desperate need to have her precious daughter back into her grasp. Truthfully she didn't care what Ned Stark had said about her or her children. She didn't care about anything that started this war. She just wanted Joanna back.
That was all she wanted. Joanna and, at the time, her granddaughter.
But now, Cerenna was missing and Joanna and her two newborns, Eddard and Lyanna, rode somewhere that she wouldn't mention.
Cersei knew where she was going. She was heading to the only other man she loved besides Robb. The man she accepted her daughter previous wanting to marry.
Jon Snow.
Of course, Cersei would never tell anyone where her daughter was heading. She wouldn't betray her. Not again. "She will hang all of us for what we have done," Cersei told her father who scoffed
"No. She will have you hanged. I told you to have him harmed. Not killed. I told her what I had instructed. You had him killed. She will have you killed. You and your son." Tywin replied to the woman who looked away.
"He is your grandson as well. Your family! Your blood!" Cersei shouted
"Joanna is the only grandchild that I claim. Her and her children!" Tywin shouted back but he kept his stoic expression "by now the whole world knows if our Targaryen lineage. They follow her more now than ever. They are now more hopeful of her getting the throne and having the dragons back as the royal family. I support her claim."
"You betray your king? Openly? Willingly?" She softly asked "you're brave. I once tried and he struck me." Cersei continued standing up.
"Are you blaming your actions on Joffrey?" He asked his daughter who sighed
"I did what I did to get my daughter back. I didn't think of the consequences. Didn't care for them. I just wanted her back." Cersei whispered
"Now you will have her, and as the Targaryens used to say, she will come to deliver you fire and blood." He finished before standing up and walking out of the room as a tear fell down Cerseis cheek.
