1945, Brooklyn, New York
"War continues to ravage Europe. But help is on the way. Every able-bodied young man is lining up to serve his country." The narrator speaks. "Even little Timmy is doing his part. Collecting scrap metal."
"Who cares? Play the movie already." A man interrupts.
"Hey, you wanna show some respect?" Steve answers back.
"Just leave it, Steve." I whisper. "They're not worth it."
"Meanwhile, overseas, our brave boys are showing the Axis powers that the price of freedom is never too high." The narration continues.
"Let's go. Get on with it." The same man complains. "Just start the cartoon."
"Hey, you wanna shut up?" Steve's voice raises a little making the man angry.
He stands up making Steve sink back into his seat and the man grabs Steve's collar. Lifting him up from his seat and dragging him out the theatre.
Immediately, I exit the theatre and follow them. I look down all the corridors until I see Steve and the man at the end of one of the corridors, exiting out a back door.
I look around to see if anyone is looking before using my vamp speed to get to the door in a matter of seconds.
I push the door open just in time to see the man punch Steve. Steve falls to the floor just to get back up again a few seconds later.
"You just don't know when to give up, do you?" The man growled.
"Steve." I call out.
"I can do this all day." Steve lunges towards the man trying to punch him but the man catches his fist.
He goes to punch Steve but I push him using a bit of my vampire strength making him stumble until he crashes into someone. He turns around to come face to face with Bucky.
"Pick on someone your own size." Bucky says before punching him and kicking his knee making him run away.
"Sometimes I think you like getting punched." Bucky states.
"I had him on the ropes." Steve replies.
"Yeah, you wish. The 3rd fight this week, surprised you haven't broken anything yet." I smirk at him making Bucky chuckle under his breath.
"Oh, you're from Paramus now?" Bucky asked gesturing to Steve's military form. "You know it's illegal to lie on the enlistment form. And seriously, Jersey?"
Steve looks at Bucky's uniform, "You get your orders?"
"The 107th. Sergeant James Barnes shipping out for England first thing tomorrow." Bucky explains.
"Already? It's only been a few weeks." Making Bucky smile at me before placing his hand on my shoulder.
"I should be going." Steve says looking down.
"Come on, man." Bucky smiles but his arms around mine and Steve's shoulders. "My last night. I got to get yous cleaned up."
"Why? We're we going?" I ask looking up at Bucky.
"The future." He answers handing Steve a newspaper.
