Rushing towards the machine, I grab Steve as he starts to fall.
"I did it." Steve whispers.
"Yeah, I think we did it." Erskine praises.
"You actually did it." Howard says in shock.
Peggy rushes in front of Steve.
"How do you feel?" Peggy questions.
"Taller." Steve jokes. Typical.
"You look taller." Peggy comments.
Everyone gather around congratulating Erskine, Howard and Steve. But I start to look around, I've got this feeling that something just isn't quite right. Like something is going to happen. All of a sudden, a explosion bursts in from the viewing area. A gunshot sounds and then it's like everything is in slow motion.
I turn around and see the bullet heading straight for Erskine. And in a matter of seconds, I speed towards him and placing myself in front of him. Two bullets hitting my back.
I groan in pain but the gasps and screams cover my pained sounds.
"Demilia." Erskine's worried voice rings in my ears.
"I'm ok." I reply.
I flex my back muscles and the bullet pop out and fall to the floor, the wounds already starting to heal. My attention is turned back to the spy starting to run up the stairs out of the building. He stops at the top to fire one last bullet which I am able to catch a few inches away from my face. Immediately, I throw it back towards him, hitting him in the arm.
Steve runs after the spy while I stay still in shock.
"Demilia, why would you do that?" Erskine says.
"I don't know. Instinct I guess." I shrug.
Erskine smiles, "Well that instinct saved my life. Now go help me?" Erskine shouts.
I speed out of the buildings and down a bunch of alleys so I wouldn't be seen until I get to the docks where I see the spy pointing his gun at a little boy, I notice he's about to throw him in the water and I catch the little boy as he was thrown in the air.
"Are you okay?" I ask.
"I'm fine. Thank you, that was really cool." He answers with a giddy voice.
I smile back at him, "You're welcome. You go and find your mom, okay?" He nods at me.
I rush back over to Steve seeing him look down at the dead body of the spy.
"It's cyanide. This hydra must be really serious if it's killing off all it's loose ends."
