22nd, January

Addie woke up in a dark room, not knowing where she was or who she was. It smelt stinky. She stood up but the ceiling was too low, she banged her head on the ceiling. Then she crouched a little and stood up. She took a few steps forward, then tripped over something slimy. Addie caution took a step back and stepped on something smooth, but at the same time, rusty and dirty.

Suddenly, a light flickered. Addie screamed. Then she realised she had nothing to worry about. (except about the fact she was in a dark, dingy room with no way out) It was just a light switch, but a light switch on the or floor? That was just weird. But, since she couldn't really do anything about that, she ignored it.

A door opened. Addie realised that before she woke up in this room, she had felt different. Now she was back to her happy self which is why she didn't care about her being in a dark dingy room with no way out. But just when the door opened, she had a sudden urge to rush out. The whole room flooded with light. A man, probably 16 or 17 came inside. Wait no, a woman.

Addie could tell that it was a woman from the voice, but she looked like a man. "Of course! Only Addie Botcher! You were so tiny when I first saw you!"

She had such a thick British accent that it sounded like Ardie Butcher. She wriggled her fingers as if she was petting something tiny and disgusting. "What? I'm not Addie Botcher, I'm Addie, just Addie." Addie replied.

The woman laughed and sneered and laughed and sneering and laughed and sneered until there was just no more laughing and sneering to be done. "So, you didn't take your mother's name?" she asked in between fits of evil laughter. "Or or your father's name?" she asked, this time laughing so hard, she almost collapsed.

Addie gathered up all her strength. She just didn't understand what was so funny about that. "My parents didn't think I was worthy of having a second name, or they just never told me about it. Probably the second. Even on my birth certificate, it says Addie, just Addie..." she said the last word with so much anger, it moved a small doll.

"Ah yes, that makes more sense..." Then she turned around and walked out the door.

"Wait! Who are you?" Addie shouted. But it was no use, the woman left. Addie was in the dark figuratively and literally.
