31st, May
"Are you sure she's gonna be 'kay?" Jeff asked Ned, when they were in the waiting room.
"Dude, I'm sure, she just passed out for a few months, that's normal."
"Passing out for a few months is not normal..." Jeff muttered.
Ned rolled his eyes. "Oh, and by the way, did you find Valentina yet?" Jeff shook his head.
"Sorry man, no, she's not locatable. Somewhere in Europe," but Jeff's mind wasn't on anything they we're talking about. His mind was on Addie.
Later that day, Ned and Jeff got to visit Addie.

Jeff looked down at Addie. Her eyelids were bruised badly.
He saw Addie's hand coming out of the duvet.
Jeff didn't know why, but he touched Addie's hand. It was soft and it sent a tingling feeling all over Jeff's body. Jeff let go of Addie's hand.
At first, Jeff didn't want to touch it again. Then, he gripped it. Not tightly, just holding it.
"Dude, i'll leave you to the hand touching," Ned joked, making Jeff jump and leave Addie's hand. "Gotta go meet Sara for lunch."
Jeff nodded. He shuddered. Then, slowly, Jeff left the room. The moment was ruined.

That night, Jeff went to visit Addie. It wasn't that late, but Addie was already asleep. He pulled out a chair from the corner and sat next to her. He remembered a song that his mother had sung to him when he was younger. It always soothed his nerves. He forgot most of the lyrics, but the tune rung in his head.
Jeff hummed a relaxing tune. It would have put anyone to sleep, but apparently, someone was woken up by it.
"What's that s'posed to mean?" A voice mumbled in the darkness. It could only have been Addie; she was the only other person in the room.
"What?" Jeff asked.
"The song you were humming. What does it mean?" Addie responded, her eyes fluttering open.
Jeff hesitated. The actual meaning was... No, he told himself. He didn't want Addie to get the wrong idea. "It's just supposed to calm you down, I guess."
"Oh," She nodded. "So, why are you here? Don't you have to go on a date with your girlfriend?"
Jeff flinched, but he kept his cool. "I don't have one." He started walking around the room, like he didn't want to talk about it.
"Well then, what about Valentina Ashten?"
Jeff froze. Then, he muttered, "I've got to go." And he did.
