I looked over the edge again. Feeling the cold raindrops begin to lightly drip onto my skin, I turned behind me to see if Kale was coming. He wasn't. The smell of fish located in the piercing cold water below my feet made me wrinkle my nose a bit. Ew. The wind pushed my hair from her face and sent chills darting through my body. I pulled my cell phone from my pocket and set it on the wet, black pavement next to my feet. It was vibrating, and I didn't want to think about it, but that didn't stop me from glancing down, and the four letter I assumed would be there were blinking on the screen. K.A.L.E. The vibrations stopped, and they started again seconds later. I really wanted to jump, but to be honest, I'm scared. No, I'm more than scared. I'm terrified.

I squated down next to the phone, waiting for it to stop vibrating. I fliped it open. This time, I had a message. “Baby, I love you! Where are you? C’mon, answer me, I’ll come get you and bring you home!” It was Kale's voice, obviously. Delete.

I closed my eyes, pressing them tightly together, trying to block out the world. The perfect sun that was there minutes before was replaced by a drizzling rain. I don't even want to do this. I really, really don't. But, I don't think I'll be able to deal with Mia and Cam together, and I can't tell her. I won't tell her. I replayed the message one more time. I just wanted to hear Kale's perfect, beautiful voice again. After listening to it not once, but twice, I snaped the phone closed and laid it back on the sidewalk.

"Hanna!"

"Don't touch me Kale!" I screamed back.

I looked over my shoulder, and he's running towards me. Fast. My back's turned to him, and I close my eyes tightly again. The rain was already clearing up, and the sun was peaking through the clouds. Colorado was weird like that. It only rained for a few minutes at the most, normally. I slide my feet a little closer to the edge. My toes were hanging over it. Kale's arms wrapped around me and yanked me backwards. I stumbled back, falling into his arms, away from the edge. He turned me around and wraped his arms tightly around me. I winced, my eyes closing tightly.

"Please, don't touch me, Kale!"

He let me go slowly, scared I'm going to rush back to the edge. And I do. I don't see Kale's eyes. My back's turned, and all I can see is the piercing water below me. But, I could feel his eyes watching me.

"Hanna," His voice was shaky, "Hanna, please."

He sniffled. I've never seen Kale cry, I thought to myself.

“Hanna,” he repeated himself.

I'm surprised he can talk. His voice was still shaking, as would mine if I was speaking.

“Han, please. I love you so much. If you jump off this bridge, I’m jumping in after you. I don’t care if I die; at least I’ll die protecting my girl.”

Kale's crying. I can tell. I can barely feel them, but tears are dripping down my cheeks too. I slide my feet a tiny step closer. One foot is nearly off the edge.

“Hanna!” Kale screamed.

His hand grabbed my wrist and tried to pull me back, but I pulled it away.

"If you touch me again, I'm jumping." I mumbled.

And to think, I'm planning on jumping anyway. But, he doesn't know that.

"I'm sorry, but I can't risk it!" He exclaimed, grabbing my waist.

I wasn't expecting that. I start to tip forward, one foot slipping off the now-wet pavement. The warm sun was trying to dry the pavement, but not in time. I yelped in fear as I tipped from the bridge. I no longer felt Kale's arms, and I grabbed the edge of the bridge. And I cried. I screamed, too. I regreted this. I regreted it all. This isn't what I wanted. This isn't what I want now. My feet dangled over the edge, and my fingers were slipping.
