Please stop there" Rachelle shouted. She hiked towards the two as fast as she could.
When Maurice noticed Rachelle's quivering legs and heavy breaths, he sprinted towards her for aid. It seemed as if she would collapse at any moment.
"We need to talk" Rachelle stated as she almost lost her breath.
"You need to relax first, please",
Maurice said.
Maurice was bombarded with memories. He couldn't stop himself from looking at Rachelle as she reminded him of Madeline.
After regaining her consciousness, Rachelle opened her eyes in Maurice's arms.
"The pendant you exchanged is exactly the other half of the pendant I had",
Maurice was completely shocked.
With a pause, Rachelle continued;
"Almost about 3 years ago, I woke up in a cottage unaware of who I am and where I belong. The only thing I had was this pendant thus I kept it safe with me as it reminds me of my past self. When I lost it today, I lost the hope to live. thank you for reviving my hopes by handing me something so congruent."
Maurice nearly jumped out of his skin. He lost his sense to enunciate for a moment. Blank and speechless.
"And sorry for my rude behaviour. Since i"ve lost my memory, people try manipulating me as their relative. Sometimes they carried me to their homes and treated me as their concubine. It was really hard to escape them all.",
Rachelle cried.
Devastated by her words, Maurice who had lumps in his throat began to speak.
"..wh- what ab bout your name?",
"That was also given by one of my fake relatives who apparently rescued me".
He was reduced to tears. Rachelle stood up with a smile on her face. "I will not forget you", she whispered. "I didn't forget you either" he added.
Before Rachelle could reply, Lucas handed over the music box to Maurice.
I would never fall in love again until I found her, I said I would never fall unless it's you I fall into...

I have heard this before!"
She closed her eyes to be flooded with memories, memories she was never reminded of before.
"Mau-
Maurice?",
"Madeline! I found you" pressing his lips against her forehead. "My pendant resembled yours because they were parts of the same necklace" he added.
Maurice compared the picture of a hand resting inside the pendant with her hand.
"See, they're the same.",
"Your touch, Your hands your face everything seems familiar..."
She fell to her knees, she didn't know what to feel. With tears in her eyes she looked at him with a lot of questions in her mind, "Where were you, Maurice? after all this time?" She exclaimed. "In denial"
with a pause, "Denial of losing you; My heart never accepted your death...Lucas my man, I wasn't wrong all this time".
She buried her face on his chest.
"How did you wait for so long?". " The hopes, they never left my heart no matter what."
"arigato".. as she shifted her neck towards his face "thank you for waiting for your Maddy".
"I promised myself to wait for you even if it takes forever", he whispered as tears rolled down his face and touched Madeline's forehead.
I would've never believed in the power of love and hopes if their story had a different ending.

"That place brought me the peace I wandered for 3 years...

If theres just one piece of advice I can give you, it will be that when there is something you really want, fight for it and don't give up no matter how hopeless it seems. And when you have lost all your hopes ask yourself if ten years from now you are gonna wish you gave it just one more shot because the best things in life.. they dont come free.
"You don't give up on people you love Farheen," she said. "True, but you just have to let them go, set them free to find their true happiness" I replied.
"Aren't they happy with you?" she asked. "If they were, they wouldn't leave," I exclaimed. "But what about your happiness, how are you gonna survive?" she asked again. "It's selfish to think about myself when their happiness is not with me. Their happiness is what matters the most whether with or without me."
I turned my back and walked away with tears in my eyes and a broken necklace in my hand realizing that I will never get over him.
In the future if by some miracle, you find yourself in the position to fall in love again...fall in love with me.
Perhaps the hopes stays.
