When it comes to people, eyes are what draw you in. It's the first thing you notice because they're the most telling of a person's thoughts and feelings. You're weak for them, you could say, and it's why you're here in an alley, heart quickening its beat as you watch the eyes of the man you'd just kissed turn from lustful to sinister, his charming features you were gushing about fading away.
It's like a switch was flicked and his cloak disintegrated, revealing a completely different person in front of you.
And it's absolutely terrifying.
His hand that was on your waist travels upward, loose on your neck so he can squeeze the life out of you if he wants.
"He did say it wasn't gonna be hard but I didn't think it would be this easy. I didn't even break a sweat." His smug face is disconcerting and you've never been so scared in your life.
"You taste good though, he was right about that."
There's darkness in the man's eyes, the kind that drowns out everything else because you're paralyzed by fear that you can't even process who he is. But you feel your quickening heartbeat and your quivering lips and the tears that are starting to form.
Your hand reaches out for his arm as his hand slowly tightens its hold on your neck. You repeatedly mouth please, a silent plea for him to spare you, but you're only met with dangerously darkened eyes and a smirk that reminds you he has all the power and he'll do with you whatever he pleases.
You close your eyes. Nobody can hear you even if you scream. So you wait for what will happen next, resigning yourself to the reality that you'll get hurt or worse, die.
Until you stop feeling the man's burning touch and you hear a loud grunt.
"Don't fucking touch her."
The man who's been pulled from you is now pressed up against the brick wall, a familiar veiny hand wrapped around his neck.
The man smirks. "But I already did."
"You fucking bastard!"
There's a swing of the arm and you swear you hear a bone crack.
"___, did he hurt you?" Your savior asks.
It dawns on you then that it's Jungkook, with his broad back turned on you as he grips the man's neck tighter and his other fist clenches again, ready for another blow.
"No, uh..." You stammer, unable to find your voice.
"I was playing nice," the man held up mocks.
Jungkook is about to throw another punch when another familiar voice echoes in the empty alley.
"Hit him again and I will hurt her."
Then it dawns on you - this party, the owner of the bar, how you'd expected to see him tonight but he wasn't around.
"Han-jae? What... what is this?" You ask, voice still shaking.
Jungkook turns around with his hand still around the man's neck, his eyes inflamed with anger at the sight of a gun pointed at you.
Han-jae merely laughs.
"If you're trying to get to my father through me, it's not happening," you reason.
"Why get to him when I have you?" He scoffs.
"You, my princess, are worth much more than you think. Money-wise and well..." He traces your breasts with the muzzle of the gun then trails it downward, causing you to whimper. "Entertainment-wise. These guys would want you either way. Should be enough to pay my debts, yeah?" He turns to the other man.
"Get us out of here then princess and I can continue where we left off," he says. "So don't hurt her or else the deal is off."
The thought of what this man wants to do with you sends Jungkook's mind in a disarray, making him feel hot all over.
He knows how to hurt without killing, and it's at this moment that he chokes the man to the point of unconsciousness, leaving his limp body on the ground and prompting Han-jae to turn the gun towards Jungkook.
Before he can order you to run, Han-jae says, "run and I swear I'll blow your bodyguard's brains out."
You can hear Jungkook huff and feel his piercing glare at you as you stay rooted in your position right behind Han-jae with his gun still pointed at Jungkook. You start to feel nauseous, overwhelmed with fear and anxiety with the scene in front of you, scared to death that Jungkook may get hurt tonight.
"Just come with me and I'll leave him in one piece," Han-jae orders.
Jungkook shakes his head, his eyes pleading you not to as he sees you considering the man's offer.
It's the sound of police sirens in the distance that causes Han-jae to momentarily lose his focus, giving Jungkook the opening to kick him in the stomach and take the gun from him.
"___, run. Now!" Jungkook shouts, as he and Han-jae battle for control.
But you don't move, your brain unable to process what needs to be done, your heart not willing to leave Jungkook in this alley with a criminal. You're in a haze as you watch in horror, knowing that whatever you do, someone will get hurt.
And for the first time, you wish it was you.
But the universe doesn't grant it to you, as your cries catch Jungkook's attention, distracting him from a headbutt that gives Han-jae the upper hand.
The gun goes off.
It's Han-jae getting to his feet and not Jungkook, and your mind goes blank.
