02: When you celebrate your birthday
##
The door to the music store opens, prompting Yoongi to grab the bat that's underneath the counter, ready to attack whoever it is that aggressively entered and plan to steal his instruments.
"Shit, Jungkook. Would you stop acting as if you're breaking in?" The blond-haired man chides. "I don't have money to repair the door."
"Sorry," Jungkook says, shyly smiling. "Your door is pretty light so..."
"It's not light. You're just in beast mode all the time or something."
Jungkook's about to say that it actually needs replacing because there are some loose screws but Hoseok gets to it first, as he enters the store and tells Yoongi that the door seems unhinged.
"I blame him," Yoongi scoffs.
"I'm sorry, I'll get it fixed. I know someone who can help," Jungkook offers.
"Oh, hey," Hoseok smiles, approaching him. "What brings you here? Everything okay?"
"Yeah, I have a problem," Jungkook says, reminding himself of the purpose of his visit, knowing that if anybody could help him with his predicament, it would be your best friends.
"Did you fight with ___ again?" Yoongi asks accusingly.
"Of course not! We're— wait, again? The last time was months ago and if I'm not mistaken, you told her to be patient with me," Jungkook responds.
"Don't twist my words," Yoongi furrows his brows. "What I said was to—"
"Alright, children. That's enough," Hoseok interrupts, laughing as he pacifies the two. "What's your problem, Jungkook? How can we help?"
Jungkook turns to Hoseok, appeased that at least one of your best friends isn't perpetually hostile towards him, although he'll always be thankful that Yoongi is protective of you the way he is.
"Okay, so... It's ___'s birthday in a month and I don't know what to give her," Jungkook sighs, as he remembers getting dressed in your closet this morning and looking around to see what item you don't have enough of, which, unsurprisingly, is none.
From clothes to shoes to accessories and jewelry, you clearly have more than what you need. In his opinion, at least.
"I mean, what do you give someone who has everything?"
"Well, you've approached the right people," Hoseok laughs. "Yoongi and I have only had this problem for the past 20 years and we don't really see that ending anytime soon."
"Great," Jungkook groans. "We have the same problem."
"It's not that hard," Yoongi says, relaxing now. "___ has all these luxurious things because she can afford them but it doesn't mean they're all she wants. She's pretty sentimental, actually. I took her to a concert once. I got her a music box, too. Hoseok made her a bracelet but it broke 6 months later," Yoongi laughs.
"Hey!" Hoseok lightly smacks his friend's arm. "She loved it, okay? And she kept some of the beads that fell off and bejeweled them so they'd match the charms of her bracelet."
"You mean, the only non-mermaid ones are from you?" Jungkook asks.
"Yes," Hoseok responds. "Doesn't matter what they are, she keeps them and loves them even more than what she buys herself because they're from us. So I'm sure that whatever it is you have in mind would be the most special thing for her."
"That's the thing," Jungkook sighs. "I can't think of anything. All the things that I know she loves are way out of my price range and I... I just want it to mean something to her, something she'll enjoy and use."
