The soft knocks on the door stirs Jungkook awake. He opens his eyes and realizes he's been in the same position the whole night - one arm under his head and another wrapped around you. You're no different and he smiles at the thought that you probably had a good sleep.
He checks his phone and it's almost 7. Barely 5 hours of sleep yet he feels it's the best he's had in a very long time.
A familiar voice calls out your name and his, and he nudges you awake, a sinking feeling in his stomach at having to let this moment go.
"Hey, ___. Mr. Sim is here. Get up before he gets worried."
It doesn't take long for you to sit up and open your eyes, but as you do, you find Jungkook smiling at you. It hits you that it's morning and you don't like yourself in the morning until after you've showered.
You cover your face with your hands. "Oh my god, this is embarrassing."
He laughs at you as he pries your hands open. "Hey, you're still beautiful in the morning."
You scowl at him for trying to flatter you, trying to mask how flustered you are.
He admires your bare face - sleepy eyes, the tiniest of freckles sprinkled on your nose, and your pale, soft lips that he's been thinking about more often than he cares to admit. You look so natural and so real. It's a sight he doesn't mind waking up to.
"I mean it. No need to be shy."
"Just because you look good literally every single hour of the day, doesn't mean everyone is," you retort.
"Ahhh. So not only when I'm in uniform or when I'm shirtless in front of you, yeah?" He cocks an eyebrow, causing your face to heat up at the semi-provoked confession.
"Shut up," you growl and head to the bathroom.
Jungkook laughs. He proceeds to greet and engage Mr. Sim in small talk until you're ready to leave.
"I have lunch out but I'll drop by before I go to this art exhibition later, okay?"
"Okay," he mouths and gestures for you to leave at the prodding of your chauffeur. "I'll just be here."

Jungkook does get some rest. Apparently, laying on the mattress where he'd just spent almost 5 hours with you cuddled on his side can help him fall asleep. He just imagines you next to him and there's a sense of calm that he feels, like he feels light and free.
It's not a hard feeling to miss or misinterpret. There's something there, and the way you looked at him and held onto him lets him know that it isn't a one-sided thing, especially when at lunchtime, you text him to say that you wish you were with him instead.
It's mid-afternoon when you return to Jungkook's apartment with a bag of rice cakes that he mentioned he hasn't eaten in a while.
"I passed them by on the way here," you say, placing them on his dining table. "You can eat some for dinner."
He watches you take them out and set them on the table. He walks over to you and ogles you clad in a skirt and blazer ensemble, pastel colors suiting you well.
You turn around and meet his gaze, the tenderness from this morning now replaced with a certain intensity, almost like desire in his eyes.
"I didn't get to return all the good things you said about me early this morning," he starts.
"Jeon, I didn't say them for you to say something back. I just wanted you to know in case you didn't."
"I... It's just different when someone else says it, I guess." He sighs. "It's kind of hard to build self-belief when you grow up without people who think that way about you."
