Justin's P. O. V.
A miracle is what they call me here. Why a miracle you may wonder? Well, it's quite simple: they thought I was done for. They didn't believe i would ever awaken from my deep sleep.
And unlike the movies, i don't remember a thing. I never heard anyone speak to me while i was in the coma. It was as if i was only sleeping. Even the past is a bit hazy to me.
They doctor's have explained everything to me over and over again. But I didn't pay much attention to anything they said. All I know is that I've been in a coma for two years. And with all that's changed happened, I wish I would've stayed asleep.
"Justin, bro, I brought you soup!" Ryan shouts as he walks into my hospital room.
"I don't want shit." I mumble, not bothering to look up from the picture in my hands.
"You gotta eat something man. Gotta get your strength back so you can get the fuck outta here!"
Once he placed the bowl of soup on top of my bed table I had the need to throw it. But I don't have enough strength to be wasting it on silly things like that. He is right, I need to get out of this place. The white walls are slowly coming in towards me.
I've been here, awake, for a month. If I stay here any longer I'll go insane.
"Where's my mom?" I ask, my voice is still weak and soft.
"She went home to get some stuff," Ryan replied.
"Why are you here?" I took deep breaths between my words.
A nurse walks in with more of my daily medicine. "Don't mind me, I'm just going to give you your medicine."
"Today, they are gonna see if you can walk remember? She asked me to stay and make sure you didn't hurt yourself, bro." he said.
"I can walk. I can move my legs without problem. It doesn't even feel like I've been in bed for two years."
Ryan sighed, looking away, obviously not wanting to argue with me.
The nurse shot me a confused look. "You can move your legs?"
"Am I not suppose to?"
"Well, it's just usually if you've been in coma for a long period of time, like two years, you have to start from the beginning. Almost like a baby," she says.
"I don't understand . . . What are you saying?"
She glances back at Ryan and turns back to me shaking her head. "Nothing, I heard you're known as the miracle around here. I believe you'll walk very soon. Good luck." And with that she walked out.
My eyes become heavy. "What was that about?" I ask Ryan.
"I don't know she seemed a bit off to me. What if she's not a nurse?" he laughed.
Before I could say anything else the doctor walked in. "Hello, Mr. Bieber, how are you feeling this morning?"
"Suffocated," I answer.
He furrows his eyebrows, "Why is that?"
"I can't stay in this room any longer."
He chuckles, shuffling papers on his clip board. "If you do well today, you can possibly go home by the end of this month."
"Let's get this over with."
•
The doctor was right. It's the end of the month and I'm packing up to leave. These walls sicken more than anything else. I'm glad to finally be going home.
Ryan grabs onto some of my luggage. "You ready, bro?"
"Let's get the fuck outta here."
"They making you walk in crunches, seriously? You walk fine to me, man."
"Yup," I answer, not in the mood to have a conversation.
"Straight home?" he asks.
I walk out of the room, my crunches pressing against my armpits. It hurts but I don't care. I just wanna leave. Ryan follows close behind me waiting for me to answer his question.
"No," I finally say once we're outside.
The sun hits my face, it's so warm. Usually I'd squint my eyes against it. But knowing I haven't seen it in two years, I fight against doing so. My skin is pale, I look like a snowman: so white and fragile. I'm still weak. I plan to change that.
I've planned a lot of more things.
"Where then?"
"Take me to the cemetery," I say.

Ryan parks the car and turns to me. "The fifth in the second row."
I nod and take a deep breath.
"Need help?"
"No," I say. "I want to be left alone."
"Alright."
And with that said, I struggle making my way over to the fifth gravestone on the second row. Going up a hill with crutches is not an easy fucking thing.
I find myself standing in front of the gravestone.
And i'm not sure what to feel. I look down at it. I prepared myself for this. I won't cry. I won't scream. I came to pay my respects. My tears and anger will all go into my future plans.
I contain all my anger and sadness.
I look around at the other gravestone surrounding the one I stand in front of. Those gravestones all belonging to members of Spiritus Album. My gang. My friends. My family. All two years ago.
The one to the right catches my eye. Alfredo Flores. The picture they placed on his grave forces me to look away. He always wore a huge smile.
I sigh, glancing around one more time before I stare back down. The picture on this gravestone, the one that I stand before, urges me to scream, to cry, to do anything. But this person always told me 'Real men don't cry, we hold it in, for the strength of others.'
He wasn't the best but nonetheless, he was my father.
"Dad," I start. "I swear to you and all those who were murdered that night, I will avenge you.
Los Asesinos will pay for this. Every single one of them will feel Spiritus Albums wrath.
Nothing will stop me from accomplishing this. Even if the girl I once loved buries me in my own casket. I'll kill her before she thinks she can do it to me. I won't leave this earth until they pay. She can't stop me.
No one can."
