"....and you're sure they want me there?" I asked Harry. We were having lunch out together since we had soo much free time in our hands. We were sitting on couches having Harry across me and beside the windows of the restaurant. Our meals had arrived: Harry of course ordered a burger with a side of fries while I ordered pasta and a plate of nachos. I am also sharing the plate with him. After his sister's wedding, we continued dating and going out, but he actually asked me out for lunch to tell me that his family are inviting the both of us to the beach.

His sister and her husband had already started their honeymoon three weeks ago and they decided to invite her and Harry's parents to come along. In addition to that, they also asked Harry and I to come as well. Which is why that was my initial reaction to the invitation. "I'm surprised as you are, babe. But it's okay if you don't want to go. I can back out and text Gemma"

"No no, it's okay. We can go. I mean, this is probably the second time I'm meeting your family and I get suuuper nervous around them" meeting his family during the wedding was nerve-wracking because I did not know anything about them. Maybe I can try asking him.

"It'll only be for five days. And, it's going to be fun since this'll be our first outing as a couple" he grabbed my hand from across the table and gently caressed the back of my palm using his thumb. I looked at his face and smiled at me. I couldn't help but smile back. He is right though—this is our first time going out and maybe going to the beach would take my mind off of all the nervousness I would feel on the trip.

"Okay then. We'll go" he smiled so big as he kissed my hand as a way of saying thank you. "When are we leaving though?"

"In about four days" I guess I have more time to buy some stuff for the trip and start packing. We continued eating our meals and I saw Harry enjoying them, but I still was curious about his family. I hope I won't be defensive or ignorant if I asked. I kept looking at him and finding out how to bring up the topic about his family.

He noticed me looking and spoke. "Yes?" as he stopped taking bites from his meal.

"I was wondering, if I'm coming to this trip, shouldn't I also know some stuff about your family?" I guess it's better to know the people who is related to him and get to know what they're like. I want to be prepared since I also filled some information to Harry about mine when he met them. I just want them to like me since I'm Harry's girlfriend who'll be in his life forever.

"Well, my family is very......complicated and messy. I don't think you're prepared to hear some history about them" he was very straightforward about his answer and I respect that, but we're already at the point of being honest with one another that we tell everything. If there are any flaws in his family background, I'll still understand him because we've come a long way to being a couple. We started out different and I accepted him for who he is. I won't care about the history anymore.

"No matter what you say, it won't change the way I feel about you. So, you can tell me everything about them, but if you won't, I can respect that" I think I don't want to pressure him that much into knowing his life back then, but it'd be nice to know some things about it.

"Basically, my dad was really egotistical especially since he poured all of his life into the family business" he started off telling the stories. He continued, "...he started going on work trips three times a month. Sometimes every week he's away" that's a bit sad though, that his dad wasn't around that much. Well, it was the same as mine when my dad left my mom for another woman, but they both found their own happiness with a different person.

He still continued. "He would also meet different women. He was technically a womanizer. Which is why I met George when my dad had an affair with my mom. But when my mom found out, she still continued to be married to him since he was the one supporting the family until she also started earning money with a fashion company" wow, at least his mom still bounced back even though she got cheated on by his dad. That's how you become a winner.

"My mom was a very loving and caring woman, but she soon changed when the affair was out and when she was receiving her own salary. That's why she made an effort to climb her way to the top. Now she's very successful at her job and landing on so many opportunities and before you know it, she suddenly turned out like my father" he took one more bite from his burger and a few fries from his plate. He wiped his mouth using the table napkin, drank from his beverage and spoke. Continuing his story-telling. "Although, I vowed that I will never be like my parents. Always thinking about money, I couldn't do that. But after being independent, I was still sucked into this dimension where money should be everything to me. Look what happened to George. I mean, I also reached that stage"

"But you're nothing like your parents or George. You're so much different from them" Just then, I had a flashback of my first time meeting Harry and up to this day. He changed from being an arrogant person to an understanding and nice person. He gave up his old life when he met me which he admitted before. I don't understand how his family influenced him to be this way.

"I'm different now because of you, but I was the complete opposite before. It took me a few months to a year to change. What if I hadn't met you then I'd do things that were very unforgiveable" I noticed he started to spiral so I immediately got a hold of his hands and my other hand touched his cheek.

"Shhh, it's okay. Just calm down. You're spiraling and thinking about so many what ifs. But I think you should view your life in the present. We met, had so many ups and downs, and we were able to change our point of view of one another" I have to say: I like where we are now. And if we hadn't met, I wouldn't be able to expose myself with all these different things (especially sex). I owe it to him for changing my life and same goes to him. I don't want anything more from him because I'm already satisfied.

He started to breath slowly since spiraling makes his heart beat faster. "Also, your sister turned out great and she was not like your parents. Something good still happened even in a crappy family and I believe that you were not really the bad guy from the start" he smiled at me and brought my hands up to his face and kissed them. He kissed them so many times and I giggled seeing him so happy.

"Actually, you're somehow right about Gemma. She was never that kind of child who disobeyed their parents. She still stayed at home when she found out about dad's affair and mom's stubbornness to stay married to him" it was nice to hear that Gemma still turned out fine, but confused why she still stayed after their family got messy. Still, it was her choice though.

"Maybe she wanted to stay because she loved them and thought about bring back the whole happy family thing" I said, sort of suggesting a reason why she didn't decide leaving their home.

"Maybe. But I got mad at her for not having the guts to say or do something back then, but I still looked up to her as my sister. That's why I asked her for some advice about how to talk to you or understand you-" I cut him off.

"Wait, what-?" he stopped talking and was surprised for a bit. "You talked to her about me?" I was surprised too, but still felt kind of flattered actually.

"Well....yes, but it only happened twice. The last one was before her wedding" it felt nice that he talked to his sister about us because it shows that he's still building a good relationship with her. I wished I had siblings too that I could also talk to about these stuff. I envy those kinds of families because I never grew up with a sibling, I was an only child. But am still glad that I have my mom and my dad, even though they have different people in their love life.

"Maybe that's why she talked to me during the reception"

"Yeah, she was just worried about who I'm entering into a relationship with, but I told her you're very different and you make me happy" I smiled at his comment. I stood up from the table and went over to sit beside him. I moved closer to him and kissed his lips. It was a bit long and sweet. I felt very happy to have him in my life.

After the kiss I leaned my head on his shoulder while his arm was around my waist. We were like that for a while when he spoke. "So, what did you and my sister really talk about?" I laughed as I stood up again and returned to my seat. I continued feeding myself with a happy thought of him wanting to know about my conversation with Gemma.

"Let's just keep that a secret" I winked and laughed as I finished my meal. We soon talked about different things and enjoyed each other's company for the rest of the day.
