Chapter 6

I grabbed her arm and dragged her with me to the locker room where people aren't allowed until after school for basketball practice. Cabir followed behind us with nandini's stuff in his hands

I made her sit on bench and pulled up the other bench so I could sit in front of her. Cabir sat right beside me and looked at nandini.

"What's wrong nandini" he asked and she looked down as tears flew down her cheeks

"Manik" she whispered

"He is right here, why are you crying" cabir asked

"He he got hu-hurt because of me" she stammered

"I told you I was okay" I said

"His jaw" she cried and I shook my head at how sensitive she is

"Nandini stop crying, im okay"

"Tum essai hi bol rahai ho, meko pata hai" she said in between her cries

"Nahi baba esai hi ni bol raha sach mai" I said forwarding my hand to her and her eyes widened

"Manik yeh" she said getting up and touching my arm where the glass cut me yesterday

"Ran into something, don't worry about it" I said and she shook her head crying

"Im sorry" she mummbled

"Nandini he is okay, see he is talking to you and do you really think a single cut can hurt him" cabir said

"It is bleeding bhai"

"He is a tough guy, okay stop crying first" he said to her and she looked at me making me sigh

"Nandini baba why are you worrying so much" I asked making her sit beside me

"You don't look good" she mummbled resting her head on my shoulder

"Damnnn Manik, she just roasted you. This is the first time a girl has said you don't look good" cabir said making me chuckle

"Nandini im okay"

"You are lying, can we go to the sick bay" she asked looking at me

"Are you hurt" I asked

"No, but you are, please na chalo"

"Im fine" I said

"Okay fine" she siad grabbing her bag

She grabbed a first aid kit and stood infront of me.

"Can I" she asked and I nodded

I looked at cabir for a second and found him smiling at us. I couldn't help but smile too, she is adorable.

"I told you na come stay with me but you don't listen to me. See how deep this cut is and you didn't even bandage it properly and see your jaw is so swollen. Why don't you ever listen listen to me? I don't mean any harm, im just trying to help" she said bandaging my arm and putting some kid of ointment on my jaw

Once she was done I grabbed her by the arm and stood up. I realized she is so tiny compared to me, I was towering over her.

"Thank you fro this but I don't want you around me nandini"

"Maine kuch galat kia" she asked so cutely

"No"

"Then why do you keep pushing me away" she asked

"Nandini I don't need anyone in my life and with this stupid care and affection I am not trying to get dependent on you or get used to you being around because eventually everyone leaves"

"I won't leave I pinky promise" she said linking her pinky with mine

"No nandini why don't you understand" I was starting to get frustrated now

"Understand what" she asked and cabir chuckled a little making me glare at her

"I don't want you nandini, I never did and I never will. Just please stop being around me" as soon as I said that her eyes flickered with sadness

"You don't want me" she asked holding onto my arms

"No I don't and you being around me is suffocating me, it's almost like you are forcing me to like you, forcing me to want you" I said

"What the fuck Manik" cabir said and I gave him a look which made him stop

"Im sorry that I did that. It won't happen again, take care of yourself manik" she said letting go of my arms and I felt the coldness from her lack of touch

she turned to cabir and grabbed her bag from his hands, she then took out the first aid kit and handed it to cabir

"Cabira hehe, navya is a very lucky girl oh and I told her you love homemade pizza so she may try making it for you, do no eat it haha it might be really bad" she said and he looked at me

"What are you saying that nadnini" he asked still looking at me

"Just because, umm take care of yourself and manik, ill see you around" she said

She was about to walk out but cabir grabbed her arm causing her to stop in her tracks

"Don't do this because of this asshole, he may pretend like he doesn't want you but I want you in my life Nandini"

"Ill be around cabir, and remember siblings for life man" she said giggling and he chuckled

He kissed her head and she kissed his cheek. She freed her arm from his hold and walked away, she didn't turn back.

"What the actual fuck manik?" He screamed at me

"I can't break her in the process of being broken myself"

"That's not a good explanation manik, the girl fucking cares about you more than your dad does and because of him you are letting her go. You don't want her seriously"

"Cabir"

"No manik, you hurt her today"

"This is exactly why I don't want her around me"

"She cried for you, she fucking cried seeing your bruises and here you are telling her you don't want her around becasue she suffocates you, fantastic manik"

"Im sorry but I can't hurt her" I said and he took a deep breath and pulled me in a hug

"It's okay, one step at a time" he said and I nodded

The rest of the day was very uneventful, nandini wasn't around, she wasn't in class which was upsetting because I thought id see her in class at least but she wasn't there.

When I went back home, the first thing I did was look at her window to see if she is there but her curtains were drawn which they never are. Being disappointed I sat down on my bed and started on the biology project which her and I are supposed to do together but of course thats not gonna happen.
