As I walked away from the old man's house, I could still faintly hear his voice calling after me. Ignoring it, I continued on my way home, taking a detour to hunt some meat for my mother.
Once I finished hunting, I headed straight back.
When I arrived, I found my mom kneeling in the front yard, planting herbs and vegetables.
"Mom? What are you doing?" I asked, puzzled. She wasn't just planting; she was talking to the plants.
But instead of answering, she ignored me, continuing her strange conversation with the greenery.
"Sigh... have you gone crazy while I was away for five days—ouch!" I winced as something hit me square on the head. It was a piece of wood she used to plant in the soil.
"M-Mom?!" I exclaimed, rubbing the lump forming on my head.
"You brat! What do you mean gone crazy—" she started angrily before cutting herself off. Her eyes widened in shock as she noticed the poorly wrapped bandages covering my body.
