Over the course of the next week Edan focused solely on her lessons. Severus had advised her they would take a short break from her apprenticeship in order for her to prepare for upcoming exams. While she grateful for the extra time to study she also missed brewing. It seemed to Edan they would not be picking back up their extra lessons until next term.

Edan missed breakfast which was typical. As she rushed to her Potions lesson she could feel people watching her. Some were snickering and pointing at her. The snickers and stares continued throughout the entire lesson. "What's going on?" She whispered to Cedric.

Cedric looked at her and hesitated. Before he could open his mouth Severus dismissed the class. Edan rushed to pack her bag in order to leave with Cedric. "Ms Wilkies, I'd like a word." Severus said from the front of the room. She glanced back at Cedric who waved her goodbye. "I am assuming you have not read the Daily Prophet?"

"I make it a point not to." Edan said with a small laugh. Severus grabbed a copy from his desk and handed it to Edan. She stared at him confused for a moment at his very serious expression. Edan glanced down, her breath caught in her throat as she read the headline.

The Beast Within Hogwarts

After the revelation of Dumbledore's appointment of the half giant Rubeus Hagrid, it shouldn't be a surprise that the eccentric Headmaster has allowed other beast like creatures within the walls of Hogwarts. Though it is rather hard to believe there are far more sinister occupants within the school.

Jon and Astoria Wilkies were murdered by Fenrir Greyback nearly four years ago - leaving behind their daughter Edan Mavis Wilkies - age 20. Despite being 20 years of age Edan is only in her 6th year due to the two years her family spent in hiding from Greyback's murderous tendencies.

While we all feel for the young girls loss - it is hard to sympathize with someone who has shown a clear inclination to dark magic herself. There have been numerous reports from fellow students regarding Edan's troublesome behavior. This includes violent outburst and the use of extremely dark spells.

I had the absolute joy of speaking to 6th year Maxine Parlor regarding a terrifying encounter she had with Edan. "We were practice dueling. I ask her how her boyfriend was and she went mad! I am afraid for my life knowing she's in this school and nearly killed me." The spell in question is Fiendfyre. An extremely dark, powerful spell that is difficult to control. It is likely that had Edan not been stopped she would have killed every student in that class.

Which begs the question - where did she learn such dark magic? It reasonable to assume she received lessons from the boyfriend Maxine Parlor had inquired about. We all remember the former Defense Against the Dark Arts Professor Remus Lupin. Yet another questionable staff decision from Dumbledore. While the Ministry does not recognize that Werewolves are inherently evil or murderous it is a concerning staffing. What is more concern, a werewolf as a professor or a professor dating one of his students?

"I witnessed him assaulting Edan during the Yule Ball. I guess he was angry that she wore a cheeky dress and was caught snogging a boy from Durmstrang." Commented a sweet Gryffindor girl who preferred to remain anonymous due to Edan's obvious anger. "Apparently they've broken up but I wouldn't be surprised if she was shagging another one of our Professors here."

We hope that Dumbledore will take that accusation seriously and investigate this claim. It also calls into question whether or not Edan Wilkies should be allowed to continue her magical education. Why would we want to risk a rise of yet another dark witch or wizard?
