A Trail of Butterflies

A/N: Two weeks?! I haven't been on Wattpad for two weeks. Oh my. Well, the wait is now over. Here is the next chapter!! Also, Happy Saturday!

Tomioka

Everyone arrived in the town. Mitsuri and Iguro were talking to Sanemi about what's been happening. Sanemi explained as well as glaring at me.

"Shinobu-san is missing." He said.

Mitsuri gasped covering her mouth. Iguro's eyes widened as his snake coiled around him.

"No. I won't believe it." He stated.

I stood staring at the clouds with Muichiro-who doesn't seem to mind- as I remembered the little things of Shinobu.

"Do you miss her, Tomioka-san?" Muichiro spoke up.

I made a face of guilt before looking at the clouds.

"Yes, I do." I replied.

I heard him sigh as he walked away leaving me in my thoughts.

|Flashback|

"Tomioka-san! Tomioka-san! Come cloud watching with me before my mission!" Shinobu said with a smile on her face.

"Alright..." I said.

We sat down on a hilltop lying down side by side.

"The sky is so soothing...makes me wonder what a beautiful day it is." She smiled lightly.

I stared at the clouds. One looks like a butterfly.

"Look Tomioka! A butterfly cloud. One of these days if you see one please know that I'm with you. And also for good luck with your missions of course!" She declared.

I just listened to her rambling but in a good way.

"I will." I spoke.

|Flashback Over|

Rengoku, Tengen, and Gyomei were discussing something with Obanai and Mitsuri.

Suddenly a purple and white butterfly appeared fluttering around me frantically.

I began to walk away from the others.

"Tomioka?! What the hell are you doing?!?" I heard Sanemi ask.

"I think he's onto something!" Mitsuri replied.

I heard them behind me. The butterfly flew faster as if telling me to hurry up.

And so, I did. My pace quickened.

The butterfly led me to an open area. I noticed the destroyed house.

"This is very unflashy if I do say so myself." Tengen replied.

I looked around at the destruction. Ice? Here in the middle of fall? No...a demon was here.

Kocho-san must have fought it.

"It's highly unlikely that Kocho-san fought an upper-rank demon." Obanai suggested.

My hands shook at the thought of it. But it is most likely. To have her taken to the Demon King.

The others spilt up into different areas whereas I was partnered with Rengoku-san.

He glanced at me. He's always a good-hearted fellow.

"I see now. You are so worried for her. I am too. Tomioka-san, we must not waste any time! We are going to find her and bring her back to us!" He boasted.

We kept looking around, and Rengoku-san went inside the house. I stood there staring at nothing.

The butterfly from before fluttered around me again.

"What is it?" I ask.

Once more, the butterfly flew in front before going off near the tall grass.

I followed it.

"Tomioka?!?" Rengoku questioned but soon followed.

We followed the butterfly until it leads us to a gruesome sight. Blood. Everywhere.

Is it Kocho's!?!? I panicked.

"Tomioka..." Rengoku began.

I noticed he had something in his hands.

"Kocho's butterfly hairpin!" I gasped.

Rengoku handed it to me. Carefully, I grabbed it holding it tightly.

I cried softly. No one, not even the other Hashiras has seen nor heard me cry before until now.

I cried for my big sister and for Sabito. And now for Kocho-san.

Rengoku turned away from me. "Tomioka, you love her don't you?" He asked.

"Yes...." I said.
