Chapter 12: Malia

Before I called Ryder in a hysterical mess, my day went something like this...

-24 Hours Earlier-

I couldn't sleep that night. I was too busy, trying to keep myself calm and think of places that Aiden could most definitely be, but when morning came and I saw Dimitri, I cracked.

I stormed up to him, and forcefully pushed him towards a tree. He flew back, and hit the tree with a painful groan. I was right in front of him, before he could even blink.

"Where the fuck is my son?" I sneered and Dimitri frowned, like he didn't know what I was talking about.

"Aiden?" Dimitri asked. "I haven't seen him all day."

I was fed up and I was seeing red. "Don't play the innocent card on me, asshole. Where's Aiden?!"

Dimitri grasped onto both of my wrists before I could react and he turned us around, so I would have my back to the tree and he had me trapped there. "Calm down. I wouldn't ever harm a hair on your boy. Now, tell me what happened."

I took a few deep breaths when I realized he was right. When I was calmer, or as calm as I could be with my son missing, I told him what happened. I even told him about the dream.

Dimitri stood stock still and cleared his throat. "Have you considered that there might be a spy among us?" He asked, relaxing his grip and just holding my hands as a comforting gesture.

"A spy?" I was confused. "Who would be a spy for your aunt?" He knew what I was hinting at and I could see the pain in his eyes, like he was thinking how on earth could I accuse him of hurting Aiden? I knew it was wrong.

"Think about it, Malia. Who did Paola work for?" Dimitri asked slowly, like whatever he said might set me off and immediately, I shook my head.

"No," I growled. "NO." It couldn't possibly be Mason. Not Mason.

"Malia, I'm not saying it is Mason. I'm saying, just consider the possibility that when Paola brought him back, she might have done something to his head."

I whimpered when the thought occurred to me. I don't want to lose Mason again, and I certainly don't want to be the one to...

"Dimitri," I said, my voice cracking and squeaking slightly. "I don't know what to do."

Tears fled my eyes as Dimitri engulfed me into a hug.
