Chapter 9: Malia
I didn't know how to react when I saw Dimitri. I had sworn to him, to everyone, that if I ever saw him again, I would make him wish he was never born. He killed my brother. Yet, from what Paola said, he had also asked her to bring him back to life. Yet, when I saw him...
I had punched him in the jaw so hard, he went flying out of the pack house. He landed on the hard ground with an 'oof,' before looking back up at me, his eyes filling with hurt. "Malia, I..."
I cut him off, by kicking him in the side when I neared him. "You know what's funny?" I growled at him, as he clutched his side, hissing slightly, as he glanced up at me. "When I saw you, I didn't know how to react. When I saw you, I thought I would want to beat you to a fucking pulp. Why? Because you killed my only brother. But now he's alive! And I don't know whether to kill you now, or to fucking KISS YOU!" I blurted it out, without even thinking. Of course I still loved Dimitri. He was my true mate, and when I saw him again, the wolf inside me howled with glee. She was happy to see him again. I, on the other hand, was conflicted.
I knew Ryder was watching. I knew what I said to Dimitri had to probably hurt him. Yet, why couldn't I contain myself?
Because you have no reason to hate him anymore, you fucking idiot.
I kicked his side again, tears burning my face, like they were on fire. I felt weak, as I dropped to the floor on my knees beside Dimitri. I sobbed, laying my forehead onto his chest, as I punched him a few times on his stomach.
"Mommy!" Aiden's voice had caught my attention, as I lifted my head up and looked over to the beautiful boy running up to me. He threw his arms around my neck and cried into my shoulder. I frowned, putting my arms around him, gingerly.
"Why are you crying, baby?" I mumbled to him, rubbing his back.
"Because you're crying, mommy. Don't cry, please," he mumbled into my shoulder. I smiled, hugging him tighter. I looked up slighty, to see Ryder looking at me and my heart broke. His face had every emotion in it, but he wore a small smile.. A sad smile.
"This is your son?" Dimitri asked, sitting up. I looked over to him and nodded.
"This is my son, Aiden," I said, rubbing Aiden's back. Suddenly, Dimitri looked absolutely baffled.
"But she told me..." Dimitri muttered incoherently and I frowned, patting Aiden on the back so he could run back to Ryder.
"Who told you what?" I asked, as I stood. I stuck my hand out, so he could get up and when our hands made contact... It didn't feel like anything. That was the most depressing part. Dimitri probably felt it too, because his eyes darkened as he let me pull him up.
"It's nothing," Dimitri said with a smile. "Probably just a hoax."
"Okay?" I said, still utterly confused. That's when I noticed the pack was still watching us in anticipation and I shooed them away. "Go about your duties."
When they scattered, the only ones who stayed behind was Ryder, Aiden, Kaiden and Mason. They walked towards Dimitri and I.
"I should kill you," Kaiden hissed.
"I know."
"I should actually be beating you to a pulp right now," Ryder said, calmly.
"I know."
"Already went down that road. Never gonna mess with him again. We all know how that ended up," Mason shrugged and we all looked at him, with a glare. He winced. "Too soon?"
Dimitri sighed, running a hand down his face, as if he was tired. "I know, I know, I'm a fuck up. Okay? So let's stop talking about how much you all want my head on a stick, and talk about the situation at hand. Okay? Okay."
