Chapter 5: Dimitri's POV

I dropped the phone onto the bed I currently resided in and looked around the dark, messy room. Currently, it was cluttered with papers and beer bottles. Yes, I'm that person who drinks their sorrows away. My sorrow, is I still feel the pain of rejection every damn day.

"I, Malia Dalton, reject you, Dimitri Mikaelson, as my mate."

Pain seers through me as I remember those hate spat words. Does she really hate me still? I wonder...

For the past few years, I have been holed up in here, having my contacts keep tabs on Malia, so I know she was still alive and kicking. When I found out she had stopped looking for me, I was relieved. When I found out she stopped looking for me, for her newborn son's sake, I spiralled into a bottomless pit of pain, with no way out. Malia completed the mating ritual with... With Ryder.

She'll never be mine again.
I heard that Kaiden, her brother's mate, still looked like shit. When I heard that, I felt a punch in the gut. I tore his mate away, out of his life... Damn, I'm a fucking idiot.
But, Malia seems happier now, with a full family. And now, Mason... Mason is back? How can this be?

He's dead. I killed him, I saw it with my own eyes.

And he's back, not only living, but he's kidnapping my only love's son.

I will gladly kill this "Mason" for Malia to have her son back. If that's what it took to gain her trust again.

I'll do whatever it took...

"Lockley, prepare the car," I said to the man standing in the far corner of the room. He silently bowed, before going to do just as ordered. I walked toward the bathroom and looked at my reflection in the mirror. I had grown a beard and my hair was matted and shaggy. I looked like hell, to sugar coat it. I actually looked like I was dragged by the ankles straight into hell, and put in the hellhounds' cage.

With that image in mind, I picked up a razor and started to shave my beard off. If I was gonna see Malia again, I better look the same.

What would she do if she saw me?

Later on, I was on the road. I looked through the windows, watching as the house got smaller and smaller as we drove farther away. My father was standing outside, watching us depart.

"Pardon the intrusion sir, but where exactly are we headed?" He asked me.

"Back to the old estate," I said bluntly. "Make it snappy."

"But isn't that where you ran away from?"

"You dare question my location?" I sneered. "To the old estate, Lockley. No questions, got it?"

"Yes sir," he said.

I looked out the window again, watching the world pass by.

Malia... I'm coming home.

A/N: Short but hey, I know y'all must've missed Dimitri ;)

Okay, I just wanna say... I just can't believe people are following me and people are liking my stories. It means so much to me, I never knew I was good enough for people to like them. ❤️

Anywho, I also would like to ask if everyone would read my other stories too? Give me some feedback, if you could? That would be lovely. <3

Okay, hope you enjoyed!
