It was a morning like any other morning, Cleo was getting ready to go to her art class. She hates having to get up so early, but she also likes it because she is the only one awake so she can do whatever she wants. Cleo's introverted behavior has caused her to push away potential friends out of the comfort of her independence. Cleo grabbed her bag and walked out the door.
As Cleo was walking to her art class she wanted to stop to get something to eat so she stopped at a local cafe in the town center near her art class. She went to the cafe, it was called the kitten Stop Cafe. She walked in and there were pictures of kittens everywhere, even the food was kitten shaped. Cleo had always thought this place was weird, who likes cats this much? It was her turn to order.
"Hello, may I take your order?"
"Um, hi. May I have the kitten spice frappuccino please?"
"Of course. That will be 5.99 please."
Cleo opened her wallet and grabbed 6 dollars. She paid the lady and stood at the counter waiting for her drink to be ready. After she grabbed her drink she went to her art class and sat in her seat. She was always the first one there, she hates being the first one but her parents say that she has to be there early so she can be better than everyone else. Cleo doesn't want to be better than anyone else, but her parents force her anyways.More and more people started walking into the class, but then she sees this one girl that she finds very annoying, she's always trying to talk to Cleo and be friends with her, her name is Zoe. Zoe started to walk towards Cleo. Cleo wanted to move her seat but her teacher gave them assigned seats so she couldn't move.
"Hey, Cleo!"
Zoe yelled. Cleo turned away trying to ignore her but Ceara, one of the other kids in the class, spoke up.
"It's not nice to ignore people! Say hi back!"
"Hello, Zoe."
Cleo Groaned. Zoe didn't say anything back, she just went to sit with Ceara. Zoe and Ceara are dating, that's the only reason Ceara spoke up. Cleo drowned out the teacher's blabber with her thoughts. Cleo's thought contained self-deprecation, which led her to try to kill herself many times. her parents have tried to help her many times but Cleo always does it again, Cleo just doesn't know how to stop doing it. Hurting herself makes her problems go away, well at least that's what she thinks. Her mom told her that hurting herself is not the way to fix things, her dad tells her that if she does it again she'll get grounded. She hasn't done it in quite some time, but she has been feeling like doing it again.
"Cleo, are you paying attention?"
The art teacher, Mrs.Carp taps her shoulder. Cleo looks up at Mrs.Carp and looks down at her hands, and without realizing it, Cleo had made herself bleed.
"Cleo, may I talk to you outside for a second?"
Mrs.Carp said as she looked at Cleo's hand. Cleo quickly got up and stepped outside the classroom. Soon after Mrs.Carp stepped outside the class and shut the door behind her.
"Cleo, did you do that to yourself?"
Mrs.Carp gestured to Cleo's hands.
"I didn't mean to! I wasn't paying attention to what I was doing!"
"I'm sorry Cleo but I have to call your parents."
Mrs.Carp sighed.
"I never wanted to have to do this again you know that Cleo."
" know, but I couldn't stop myself, I didn't even know I was doing it."
She mumbled under her breath.
"I'm sorry, but I'm going to have to call your parents Cleo."About an hour later Cleo's parents finally arrived at Cleo's art class. They stepped inside the class and talked to Mrs.Carp. When Cleo's parents came out they gave her this sad and disappointed look, then her mom told her to get in the car and Cleo did so without saying another word. As her parents got in the car it was silent for at least twenty minutes. Then her mom asks,
"Cleo, I know this is a very sensitive topic for you, and me and your father, but may I ask why you did that to yourself?"
"I didn't even realize I was doing it. It was an accident I swear!"
She yelled as she pounded her hand on the seat next to her.
"Sweetie we know something is going on, and we can't do anything to help you if you don't tell us what's going on, so please Cleo tell us what's wrong?"She said with a kind voice. Cleo looked down at her hand, now covered with a handkerchief, and frowned.
"It's nothing mom. I'm fine."
"It's okay if you don't want to talk about it right now, but Cleo please promise me you'll talk to me about it later. I just want you to be safe and happy, and if I have to risk everything for that to happen I'll do that with no consideration, I can guarantee that. I love you so much Cleo, and I just want you to be the happy girl you used to be, so please, talk to me about it later."
Cleo's mom said with a kind voice. A tear ran down Cleo's cheek and it rested on her lips, she started Crying harder, and harder. She started to hyperventilate, it got really hard for her to control her breathing, she felt like she was going to pass out.
"Cleo! Are you okay? Cleo answer me!"
Everything became blurry to Cleo, and then it went black.
