Highway to Famous

New years

As the snow fell covering most of Staten Island we all decorated the tree for Christmas coming in a few weeks. We had all decided to buy gifts for everyone instead of just picking from a hat.

Christmas Day we were all sitting around drinking eggnog and hot chocolate eating some sandwiches and finger foods. Elizabeth and Dacre left, Pete looked at me fidgeting to sit still.

"Are you okay? Ever since they left you haven't been able to sit still at all?" I asked

"Yeah and no.. I wanna do something but I'm scared of how it's going to happen." He noted

As I told him to just do it what could possibly go wrong he goes to the kitchen opens the drawer comes back beside me on the floor. Unaware of what was actually happening I looked over his eyes full of tears and a square box with the most beautiful tear drop ring ever!

"Um what's that? Is that what I think it is? Like are you serious right now? Why me? Are you sure me?" I rambled

"Yes like 1000% yes I am positive it's you. Especially after what happened when you stood your ground with my ex, who you could have totally beaten the shit out of, you've proven you can handle me and my absolute worst. This can be just between us you can hide from Elizabeth as long as you want but I just wanna be with you forever."

Of course I said yes I mean why wouldn't I? But telling Liz was going to be hard, keeping this from her was going to be even worse.

We had gotten invited to Colsons New Year's Eve bash, formal attire was required but because Pete is his best friend he wore whatever of course. With a little mutual agreement he went lazy yet casual, I wore whatever he picked or else I would have had fifty outfits.

Colson had made Pete get the ring because he just couldn't wait till I was wearing it fully. Elizabeth and I were sitting in a hallway helping with the decorations when Pete walked up mid sentence.

"Hey I'll be right back I gotta grab something for Colson, shouldn't take me long." He said

"Oh want me to come with you? I can help that way it won't take as long." I asked

"No no stay and help Elizabeth finish setting up everything with Meg and Colson I'll be back in a few"

Dacre was finishing up with his task when he showed up and decided to sit with us and finish helping us decorate. Pete came back I could see the bulge in his pocket, I automatically knew what he had and tried everything to keep Elizabeth from seeing it. My plan was to announce it to them when midnight hit.

I clung to Pete as we watched the time countdown to midnight the last 10 seconds we rustled to get the ring on as everyone counted 3...2...1 in the midst of HAPPY NEW YEAR, I looked at Elizabeth and mentioned I'm engaged as she went to kiss Dacre she stopped, froze, and looked at me shocked.

"Your what??" She yelled

Before I could finish the words she's wrapped tight around my neck with excitement. Colson, Meghan and Dacre congratulate us both and tell Pete it was about time he found a keeper.

Colson and Pete always had beef over the dumbest things "so you had to ruin my party to make your big debut? Just couldn't do it on your own could you?"

Pete laughed making Colson laugh even harder.

A few months later I woke up wiping my face when I scratched my eye lid, I hadn't got use to this huge rock on my hand yet but my face sure did hate me for it. I turned over to see Pete still sound asleep, I snuck to the bathroom to take a shower to wake up more and get me started on the day. Halfway through my shower Pete wakes up and decided he was going to shower.

"Shower buddies it is I guess." I laughed

"Oh now you make a big deal now that we're engaged but not once did you complain when we were dating." He spat

"Yeah but now I'm kinda stuck taking a shower with you for the rest of my life in a way. I can't just be like shower, play with your feelings and go home. No it's shower find another room to avoid you in forever." I joked

I looked up at his "oh is that so" attitude on his face. Before I knew it showering together wasn't the only option, nor was the water the only thing getting hotter.

He finished his shower as I wrapped up getting ready.
I debated between two casual outfits for the day as he wrapped his arms around me trying for round two. Trying to ignore him he had thoughts on todays plans, they all sounded really good and didn't understand why we couldn't do them all.

"So I figured I would let you choose this morning's itinerary then I have complete control over the evening plans." He noted

"I kinda thought I'd go for some coffee and walk through the park maybe the pier and enjoy some ocean views and just relax for a bit." I explained

"I mean if that's what you want to do, go for it I hope you enjoy your morning and I'll see you this afternoon." He wept

"Actually no I want you to enjoy the lazy morning with me, I figured we could talk plans on the whole wedding thing. We could get coffee grab a donut and then the pier."

As he changed into his lazy style clothes we set out for the coffee and donut shop then off to the pier to relax and discuss big details of the big day.

I noticed he was on his phone a lot but I didn't pay no attention I just figured it was Colson or an agent wanting to talk about a movie or something. We were finally able to talk about the big details so we could worry less and focus on the smaller details later.

Later that afternoon we get back home I have a rose gold sparkly dress laying on the bed with some grayish heels, Pete's got the most basic suit with black converse shoes. I look confused as he encourages me that it's fine put it on and fix myself up a little we have an hour to get ready.

Barely able to keep his eyes off me we head out to wherever, we shortly arrive at a club but it wasn't as loud as usual but I just brushed it off. As we walk in I realized it was really dark and at that point I'm asking what's going on.

About that time the lights get bright and what seemed like thousands of people screaming HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! I stood dumbfounded and unable to move as everyone making their way toward me.

"Happy birthday babe! I hope you don't hate me to much but I rented out the whole entire club for your birthday, so it's just you me your closest friends your family and of course colson had to come" Pete yelled

"Of course you don't think you could have a party with cake and not invite the biggest fat kid of them all" colson joked.
