━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

daichi and [name] were best friends. best friends. they spent time with each other all the time, they helped each other study, they supported each other no matter what. they were always they for each other, ever since they were young.

plus, the two had romantic feelings for each other. very romantic feelings for each other. they both knew that the other liked them, however, never made a move to talk about what they were to each other. daichi would overly-worry for her, and care for her when she came down with the smallest illness. he would sometimes get caught in her eyes, as if he were lost in a trance...

and [name] was no better about it, either! she was very hands-on, one could say, with daichi, hugging him whenever she could or grabbing onto his arm. she would always make sure to prepare some sort of little snack for him for his practices or games, especially the ones she wouldn't be able to attend. however, for the local volleyball games, anyone could always find [name] up in the stands, cheering for karasuno (but more for daichi).

they were smitten for one another. the volleyball team knew, they knew– hell, even their parents knew. everybody knew. at this point, the two of them should just claim they were in a relationship together. but, something stopped them. there was something blocking them both from proceeding further into a relationship: fear.

once they got serious about being together, who knew what could happen. they felt as if there was more of a possibility they would split up, they would get into fights– there were higher chances of their years of being friends would fall into shambles from one measly disagreement. that couldn't happen— they wouldn't allow it to happen.

despite the awkward disposition of their relationship, daichi and [name] still kept up with each other. so, the girl was one of the first iutsiders to know about daichi's departure for the training camp he were to attend. [name] was a bit sad about the few days of separation they would have, but waved him off moments before he left.

it turned out those few days were harder on the both of them than they expected. random moments of the day, their minds would linger to one another, wondering what they were doing. they were constantly in contact with each other, whether it be short messages or long calls before bed. daichi's teammates couldn't help but tease.

"ohhh!!" nishinoya called, creeping up behind his team captain who had been sitting on a bench. "look who daichi's on the phone with– again!"

the girl on the screen gave a small wave to the short male, "hey, noya!!"

"heyy–!"

"nishinoyaaa," daichi drawled, pushing said male away with a glare. "go bother tanaka or something."

"whatever..." he walked away, but not without mocking the bigger male with exaggerated kissing faces.

"they are so annoying..."

"don't be like that, dai," [name] at her friends irritated gaze. "he only said hi. you know there was no ill intentions."

"... you're right." he could never go against what she said. "hey, [name]?"

"hmm?"
