4. Last Chance For Love

"I just got here in Seoul. I can't just go on vacation for a week.. Especially not on a trip with Jin!" Taehyung said as he loosened his necktie and slumped on his big, black couch.

Jungkook sighed and stood in front of him, with both of his hands in his pockets. "Tae, it's just a trip. And it's with our friends - our highschool best friends. Don't you think it's a good time for you and Jin to have a closure too?!.. If-- you want a closure?!"

Taehyung let out a deep breath and stared at Jungkook seriously. He said in a low voice, "That's not necessary anymore. It's been fifteen years. What else should we need closure for?! Jin has ended everything between us that night.

I went to their house every single day to try and see if I can change his mind - but his parents just kept on saying sorry and sent me away. He changed his number and closed all of his social media accounts - none of us knew how to contact him when he went to law school.

Well, he made it obvious that he didn't want anything to do with me anymore. He didn't even take the time to see me when I left for the US. Isn't that an enough indication for a closure?"

"But you kept on hoping you'll get back together after his studies, right?"

"Yes. But I stopped hoping when you said that Namjoon was his boyfriend from college!!" Taehyung glared at him. "Then you fucking kept on sending me photos of him and Namjoon when they started their own law firm.. how come you didn't even see posts of Namjoon with his wife!?!!"

"Coz I stopped stalking his account when you said you're moving on from Jin!! Fuck- will you stop guilt tripping me now?! I'm totally feeling devastated too, you know?!" Jungkook said annoyingly.

Taehyung sighed and leaned his head back on the sofa to stare at the ceiling, "Fine. It doesn't matter anymore. It's too late.."

"What do you mean it's too late?! You just told me it's only your parents who like this engagement. You're not yet married, Tae. Just be honest with Jimin!

I'm sure he'll understand. Damn- it's your first time to meet each other in person then you proposed already?! He was even dumber to accept it!"

"Kook, we've been video calling for quite some time now when dad arranged me with his parents. They will be furious if I do anything crazy." Taehyung said softly.

"Video calling - nothing too deep with that right?! That doesn't even sound like you had a romantic bond! Okay-- since most of this mess is my fault, can you at least let me help straighten out things between you and Jin?!" Jungkook asked, sitting across Taehyung.

"There's no need to straighten out anything because there's nothing more between us, okay?!! Nothing. So just stop it." Taehyung said firmly.

Jungkook let out his deepest sigh, "Okay then. If you really don't want to come to the trip, then I should just go alone. Come to think of it-- I'm single, Jin is single. We're good friends, and he's really an attractive man..

It'll be just us four going to Jeju.. Yoongi and Hobi - a married couple, then me and Jin - two single, free and hot men.. who knows?! Maybe it's really us who's meant for each other, right?!" Jungkook smirked as Taehyung slowly raised his head to look at him while listening to what he was was saying.

"W-what the fuck are you saying?!!" Taehyung glared at him intensely.

"I'm just saying-- I don't mind being with Jin. If he has not had any boyfriend after you during highschool, and that you haven't done it yet back then except for some kissing, rubbing and palming.. then that means Jin is still--"

"Fuck you Kook!!!" Taehyung cut off Jungkook's words as he shouted at him and stood up to grab him. He jokingly locked Jungkook's neck, while the latter laughed so hard.

"I swear I'm gonna strangle you if you ever try to get with Jin!!" Taehyung said with gritted teeth.

"W-well you are a-already strangling me!!" Jungkook said, then he started coughing as Taehyung let go of his neck. "Seriously, bro.. just come to the trip. If it doesn't work the way I've hoped it to be, then that means you're not meant to love him again.."

Taehyung sighed, then his face turned to a frown, "I'm just-- I guess I'm just afraid to get thru the same pain again. What if Jin doesn't really want to be with me anymore?! Knowing that he didn't have anyone after me gave me a bit of hope that maybe he still wants to be with me..

But what if he just couldn't really find a serious relationship, but he's trying out to date other men-- that means he's totally over me, right? Come to think of it, he never reached out to me while I was in the US."

"Then if you really want to find out the answers to those questions, this is the opportunity to do so. I know your fear of going thru the same hurt again-- I'm the one who has witnessed what you went thru when Jin left you.

That's why I can confidently say that this trip will be all worth it. We'll never know once we give it a try."

Taehyung wiped the tears that were forming at the corner of his eyes. Then he sighed, "Okay. I will go then.."

"Hobi-- it's obvious, Tae still hates me! Why would I want to go on a trip with him?!" Jin said over the phone. He's now getting ready for bed after Namjoon drove him home from the reunion party.

"How did you know he hates you?! Coz I don't think so - all I ever saw was Tae stealing glances at you the whole freaking night! Does that obviously mean he hates you?!"

Jin sighed over the line and took a seat on his bed, "I heard him scoffed when high school precious memories were mentioned. He didn't want to go back to those anymore.

Well, he's already engaged, Hobi. I should stop hoping. I should've stopped a long time ago when he was not responding to any of my written mails or when my emails kept on bouncing back..

He clearly didn't want anything to do with me. I've hurt him so bad, I don't even deserve a chance with him anymore."

"Then just straighten out things with him, maybe just talk and close things as friends. Just so you can put everything behind now - so you can finally move on and get over him.."

Jin pressed his lips together to suppress his cry, but tears just came out uncontrollably, "I'll never get o-over him, Hobi. Y-you know that.."

There was a brief silence on the line as Hobi just listened to Jin sobbing. Then Hobi let out a deep breath before he spoke.

"Okay then-- if you can't get over him just like that, then let's use this opportunity to end all your agony!!"

"W-what do you mean?!"

"I mean... Let's turn this Jeju trip into a 'Get Tae Back Mission' - GTBM for short!"

"W-what, no! He's already engaged!"

"So what? They're not yet married.."

"Hob-ah!!"

"Hey!! This is your last shot in love, Jin!! Get over your conscience and just try to fix things! There's nothing evil about that!

If it doesn't work, then fine, at least you've tried! It's not like you're gonna spike Taehyung's drink to take advantage of him, or seduce him and frame him for a shotgun wedding!... Though that could work too!"

"Hobi!!" Jin bit his bottom lip and thought for a while, "But-- maybe that's not a bad idea. Maybe I could just let him remember how we used to be. Then maybe-- if he still has feelings for me, then he'll realize that he would want to love me again.. right?!"

"Now you're talking, bestie!!"

Jin smiled a bit when he heard Hobi giggling over the phone.

"So?! We on for GTBM!"

"Y-yeah!! GTBM it is!!"
