"Already miss me huh?" I asked answering the phone.
"Maybe." Eddie laughed, rolling my eyes I laid on my back, twirling the phone cord through my fingers.
"Maybe I just wanted to make sure you got home safe..." he mumbled.
"Well I would hope so. You're the one who took me home." My cheeks burned as I blushed.
"Right. I just want to make sure we're okay." He muttered.
"We're?"
"Yeah we're friends aren't we?" He asked.
Friends.
"You kiss all your friends like that Munson?" I laughed.
"Woah Munson? What happened to babes?" His sarcasm made me giggle, a brew of butterflies bursted in my stomach at the sound of his voice.
"Friends." I snapped, crushing them down.
"Shit." He whispered. "Sorry-I just-I don't know."
"Sleep on it. See you tomorrow at school." I sighed hanging up the phone. Waiting for it to ring I slid the phone back on to my table.
I laid there in bed for a while debating what I wanted. Eddie was my first kiss, and I knew that I wanted more. But I just wasn't sure how all of this was going to play out. My phone rang again and excitement flowed through my body.
"Hello?" I sang.
"Hi there." My excitement died down, it wasn't Eddie's voice.
"Who's this?" I asked confused.
"Patrick."
Oh shit.
"Uh-Hi. How did you get my number?" I tried to laugh it off.
"Chrissy."
"Oh."
"I just want to say that I'm sorry if I made you uncomfortable or anything today." He began to apologize.
"I guess I just don't know how to go about this." He sighed.
A deep knot brewed at the bottom of my stomach, I knew what he was going to say and I didn't want him to.
"I like you Alex."
Fuck.
"I've liked you for a while, I think you're the prettiest girl on the cheer squad, and I feel bad that no one gives you the time of day. But yeah. I like you." It sounded as if a weight was lifted off his chest.
"Alex?" He asked after I didn't respond.
"I'm sorry..." I mumbled.
"Why?"
"Because-"
"Because you're dating someone?" He asked.
"Yes." I lied quickly.
"It's Eddie huh?" He sighed.
"Yes." Fuck.
"Alright, I'm sorry. I guess I'll see you at school tomorrow." He said softly, before I got a chance to answer the dial tone rang against my ear.
Shit. Shit. I have to call Eddie.
"Hi there."
"Truth or dare." I asked quickly.
"Truth." He laughed.
"Fuck-I mean dare. Pick dare."
"Then it's not really a game then is it?" He asked.
"Eddie-"
"Fine dare."
"I dare you to fake date me." My hand pressed against my forehead, my heart began to pound against my chest.
"What-" he laughed.
"Yes. I dare you." I muttered.
"Why?"
"Because Patrick just called me and told me that he likes me, and I didn't know what to do but he assumed it's because I'm dating someone and I said yes and he asked if it was you and I said yes." I said quickly.
"Okay-" He laughed.
"Okay?" I asked.
"Yeah I guess I'll pick you up tomorrow for school. Fake girlfriend." Eddie couldn't contain his laugh, it felt relieving that for some reason he was going to go along with this.
"Ok." I smiled biting down on my lips. "See you tomorrow. Fake boyfriend."
