By the time the rest of Class 1A had woken up, the absence of their fellow classmates was blatantly obvious.
"Have Todoroki, Aoyama, Midoriya, and Shoji returned yet?" Iida asked, waving his arms in front of himself to hide his shaky hands. He was nervous for both his friends and the unforeseeable future.
Uraraka sat on the couch diagonal to her blue haired friend, biting her nails nervously. "Er Iida," She mumbled out, voice cracking. Quickly she cleared her throat and started again. "I don't think they've come back yet."
Momo, who had made herself an omelet for breakfast, walked into the room, sitting down on the couch next to Uraraka. She used her fork to elegantly cut into the food item. But before she put it in her mouth, she gently butted into the conversation. "I do believe they have already left. Their rooms were closed and from what I can tell, their belongings were packed already." She then proceeded to eat her breakfast daintily.
Iida huffed, pushing up his glasses, eyebrows furrowed. "I do not believe that they have come back since last night. I have heard neither hair nor hide of their presence within these dorms. If they truly are not punctual and on time, then–"
"Don't fret, brat. They left early this morning. Far too early for anyone to notice that they gathered their final bags this morning at an ungodly hour." Aizawa walked in the 1A dorms, cutting off Iida's fretting. The tired teacher barely glanced at the small group before heading to the elevator.
"Oh." Was the dignified reply. And even though he had heard Aizawa's explanation, Iida still felt a sense of dread taking over his gut. Nervousness seemed as if it would swallow him whole. But he pushed it down, instead letting out the breath he was holding, and turning to his friends.
Momo was nodding to herself as she chewed her omelet, while Uraraka was curiously looking at the raven haired girl's food. "What did you put in it?" She asked, noticing the colorful food.
Momo hummed and swallowed before answering. "Oh, just some peppers, tomatoes, and ham." She shrugged. "Not necessarily traditional foods for an omelet, but the flavors are immaculate. Wanna try a bite?" She asked the intrigued brunette.
"Really?" Uraraka asked, just making sure Momo was serious.
The other teen nodded, using her fork to cut off another bite of the delicious breakfast.
Uraraka jumped off the couch, "I'll get a fork!" She exclaimed while practically running to the kitchen.
Iida watched the exchange with dull eyes. His mind was still fretting over his friends and their departure.
He hoped they arrived safely. And he hoped that the bad feeling in his gut was a false alarm.
The bus driver looked pulled over into a field, parking the big automobile in the grass off to the side. Once parked, he looked over his shoulder to check on the kids. They had been on the bus for about thirty two hours, not including bathroom and meal stops. And so far the kids were dead asleep.
He could see a few sets of kids leaning on each other as their bodies fell from the weight of their exhaustion.
Usually he would drive the bus until the occupants reached the desired location, but for this specific job he was only required to park at this field. From then on, he would be swapping vehicles with another driver. And the new driver would take the kids to what he presumed would be their new location.
But looking at the sleeping, vulnerable forms of the kids, he felt a pang in his chest.
He had once had a teenager too.
He hoped the kids would be safe under the supervision of the next driver. Afterall, these kids were just highschoolers.
Then again, he doubted the Commission would let anything happen to them before their arrival.
Nonetheless, he wished the best for the sleeping occupants.
The driver spent the rest of his wait period on his phone, checking in on his family. He hadn't seen them in a while, so it was nice to finally talk to them for a few minutes.
The Commission had forced itself into the priorities of everyone they chose to involve themselves with.
Mere minutes later, the driver saw another car approach. They gave the signal, and after speaking a few words of confirmation, the old driver packed up his belongings and made his way to the opposite vehicle. From then, he watched the woman driver get settled in the bus, before pulling out and driving off.
He let out a breath, nervously tapping the steering wheel a few times before starting the car.
