I found a picture of a very pretty lady on Pinterest that reminded me of Mai.
🤍

Mai snuck into her room.
No longer in the mood to watch a movie like that.
So she didn't watch the demise of president snow or the inevitable death of Finnick Odair.

She typed out a message to Kirishima, saying that she was tired and went to bed so that he didn't end up searching through the dorms for her.

...................

It wasn't hard.
Pretending everything was fine.
But it sucked, having to act like nothing was different through the unease in her stomach.

"You're hot~"

"Omgoodness! You're so hot Mai!!!"

"Mai is really attractive physically, but I don't know if she is girlfriend material."

"If it was a one night stand sorta thing then I guess Mai would be good for that..."

"If you're good... You'll never have to find out."

Mai wanted to throw up.
She didn't want to be hot or attractive or anything like that.
She didn't want that kind of attention.
She didn't want people to look at her think of her so cruelly.

If she was to be in a relationship like that it would have to be with someone she trusted, someone she knew wouldn't leave her.
But she wasn't sure she knew someone like that.

Sure she had friends but none of them could ever love a monster like her after knowing her past.
And even when they didn't some people didn't even think she would be a good romantic partner-

Mai shook her head.
'No, I'm not going start thinking about that again.'
She looked at Denki who was sitting on his desk talking to Jirou.
Without even addressing the conversation, both Mai and Denki seemed to each have gotten over it.
Though his words did sting she knew he said it out of simple immaturity and nothing deeper.

He'd patched up their friendshio with a tiny clay cat named Fred that now sat on her desk guarding her homework.

"Hey Mai are you good? You said you were tired last night, did you sleep alright?"
Kirishima asked turning from his previous conversation with Midoriya.

The questions made her want to shatter into a million tiny pieces.
"Yeah, I slept fine."
She lied.
She didn't sleep fine.
Infact she barely got any sleep.

"Yeah I'm sorry you didn't finish the movie."
Midoriya said stepping forward.
"I'm glad you got some sleep though."
He said with a nervous smile.

Mai nodded and looked at the door impatiently waiting for Aizawa to walk in a start class so she didn't have to speak anymore.
And as if summoned Aizawa entered the room and began to talk about something Mai didn't currently care about.

...................

A week drug by and soon Mai was able to somewhat move past her recent revelation and store it deeply with the rest of the memories she hoped to permanently bury.

She occupied herself with doing School and watching her friends make complete fools of themselves.

"Come on! We're starting the lord of the rings today and we actually convinced Bakugou to watch with us!!! We'll have the whole group!!"
Mina said dragging Mai away from her precious homework.

"The lord of the rings? I don't want to watch a movie about rings Mina! I want to do homework!"
Mai whined as she was forced down stairs.

"It's not just about rings! And who would choose homework over movies?!"
The pink girl shrieked, her grip on Mai's hand tightening.

They turned into the common room and Mina spun Mai around and pushed her onto the couch between Midoriya and Kirishima.
The force from Mina's push made Mai practically fall onto of Midoriya which was the opposite of her intention.

The lord of the rings was a series also based on books.
About a annoying little shit named Frodo and his posse of grown men on their way to destroy a magical ring that-

The screen turned off and filled with static.
Several groans sprang from the students as their movie was interrupted.
Mai took this opportunity to stand up and get a drink.

She walked to the kitchen and poured water into a glass listening for the movie to turn back on as Denki and Momo tried to resurrect the tv.
"This is a new tv I wonder what's wrong-"
Momo fussed before she was interrupted by a smug voice that sent shivers down Mai's spine and made her drop her glass.

Time seemed to slow as the water filled glass hit the floor and shattered water splashed over Mai's legs but she could barely feel it.

"Hello UA, and pardon me for the interruption."
The polite words rolled off an evil tongue.
Mai turned slowly eyes wide in dread.
Staring back at her from a tv screen was a man in a crisp white suit with slick greying black hair and heartless blue eyes.

"Wrong movie bro."
Kirishima joked not realizing that this isn't in fact a movie.

"I... I didn't change the movie."
Denki whispered eyes stuck on the man remote clutched in his hand.

"My name is Amaya Keiji and I regret to inform you that your classmate isn't who they seem."

'No no no no.'
Mai backed up her waist bumping against the counter, panic coursed through her vains in the form of adrenaline.
'What could he possibly gain from this?!'
Her thoughts screamed.
Dispite the swirling tornado of fear and anger raging though her mind, her body remained frozen.
Trimbling in place.

"What's going on?"
Uraraka asked from her spot by Jirou and Iida.

"You see, the teachers that you trust have let someone dangerous slip into your group."
He said slowly pronouncing each word as if destroying Mai's life was so pleasurable for him he was insistent on making it last as long as possible.
Daring her to put a stop to it.

But she couldn't, she couldn't move.
She could only stare as clouds covered her vision and a sudden disembodied ringing echoed through her ears.

"That why I, a concerned citizen have decided to make you aware of the situation."
He spread his arms with a smile.
"A situation concerning your fellow student."
His eyes seemed to look directly at Mai.
Dispite the fact that this was obviously a prerecorded message.

"Mai Rika... My angel."
