Sorry for not updating in so long! I've actually had this written for a long time, but I wasn't sure if it was alright. I just decided to post it, because I feel like this is a scene that Cassandra Clare should have written, but didn't. I actually don't know if I'm any good at angst, but i decided to give it a shot. This is my take on it, so hope you like it!

Rap. Rap. Rap. Rap.
Lily hated being clan leader. Being Raphael's second in command had never been so stressful. There was always someone looking for her help. She had no idea how Raphael dealt with it for so long. Hopefully he'd come back soon and she could make him clan leader again.
Anyway, it couldn't be night yet, so whoever it was knocking on her door had no business doing so. She decided to ignore them. Whatever the problem was, she would deal with it after seven o'clock, which was three hours away. She needed her beauty sleep.
Rapraprapraprap-
Lily stormed over to the door and threw it open. She glared at the offending person, who happened to be Elliott. He shrunk a few inches under her glare.
"What?" Lily snapped. Waking up before night was Raphael's thing, not hers. Oh, wait. He did that so he could deal with the issues the clan had before she and Elliott dragged him out to Taki's. She had to do that now too, didn't she? At least until Raphael was back. He better come back soon, then. She physically couldn't wake up before seven.
"There are people downstairs that want to speak with you," Elliott said.
"Who?" Lily demanded.
"Um, well, Magnus, Luke, Jocelyn Morgenstern, and the other guy- what was his name? The one Raphael called Magnus' latest disaster," Elliott listed, counting them off his fingers.
"Weren't they the people that attended that Downworlder- Shadowhunter dinner? Why isn't Raphael with them?" Lily asked. "Has something happened to him?"
"I don't know. They were being pretty secretive, saying they needed to talk to our leader," Elliott said.
"Raphael is our leader," Lily said, frowning. "We can't be the first people they visit. They must've gone to the werewolves first, so Luke could check on them, and Maia would have told him what happened."
"Well, they're waiting for you downstairs. You might want to bring backup, to look intimidating," Elliott said.
"Sure," Lily said. "Let me change." She closed her door and threw on jeans and a blue top to match her hair. When she opened her door again, Elliott was standing there with two other vampires, Amiera and Aden.
"What are you doing here?" Lily asked Amiera and Aden. Said vampires smiled innocently and Amiera said, "We heard you needed backup."
Lily rolled her eyes. Along with Larisa and Rome, they loved making trouble and being nosy. Lily had never understood why they annoyed Raphael so much until she became acting clan leader. She was lucky Larisa and Rome were gone to London to visit a friend of theirs.
"Fine," Lily said. "Come on."
The four of them headed down the stairs to the lobby, where Luke, Magnus, Jocelyn Morgenstern, and Disaster- Lily decided to call him that until she remembered his name- were waiting.
"What?" Lily asked irritatedly. "I need my sleep."
The guests shifted uncomfortably and glanced at each other.
"Out with it," Lily said. "Did something happen to Raphael?"
"Um," Disaster looked at his companions, who did not look like they wanted to help him at all. No, his name was Alec, right? A Lightwood. He hesitated, and then said, "Raphael died, Lily. I'm sorry."
