I'm starting to regret saying yes to Alex's dinner invitation now that I'm looking through my closet. I've always stayed away from relationships, unless the guy actually tried and that only happened a couple of times, but we never got far. That's also why I have nothing in my closet.
Sad thing is I only have an hour before Alex comes to pick me up, good thing is we're in Texas and there's not that many fancy restaurants around here.
I decide to put on my favorite pair of jeans, that look like water was spilt all over it, with my fancy black shirt under my denim jacket and my black combat shoes.
I still have 10 minutes after I finish getting ready, so with that I take my iPad out and start reading the sixth book of an interesting series by Cassandra Clare.
I faintly hear the doorbell when I'm finally reaching the good part, I let out a frustrated sigh and head to open the door to see the one and only Alex Gonzalez, looking as good as ever in a dark grey suit and a white tie.
"Hey Raven." He greets me happily.
"Hi. Umm... Am I dressed appropriately for wherever we're going?" I ask, fidgeting against his eyes raking over me from head to toe.
"You look perfect. Shall we?" Frustration over being disrupted from my book long forgotten, I follow Alex out the door to God knows where.

To my great surprise, we arrive at my favorite Italian restaurant.
"Oh my gosh, Olive Garden? Really?!" I squeal excitedly.
"Yeah it has the best Italian food." Alex grins over at me.
I smile back and quickly get out of the car and into the best restaurant, in my opinion, to get the best food.
We're quickly seated and I have a feeling that Alex made a reservation, the waiter comes to order our drinks. I order a Dr. Pepper while Alex orders a beer.
Once the waiter leaves Alex gives me a questioning look. "Dr. Pepper, really?"
"Yeah, it's my favorite soda. Don't judge me." Alex just chuckles at me, then the waiter is back with our drinks and asking if we'd like an appetizer.
"Yes, can we get the salad?" I say quickly, I love the salad here it's amazing.
"Of course, I'll be right back with your salad." He quickly disappears before I can thank him.
"So, Raven. Care to tell me about yourself?" Alex looks at me questionably.
"Umm, what would you like to know?" I ask uncomfortable all of a sudden. I've never really liked talking about myself.
"Anything. Everything." groan.
"Umm.. well.. I like to read, obviously I used to own my own gym until some rich guy stole it from me along with my best friend," I laugh at Alex's glare and keep going. "I've lived on my own since I was 14, I've always had AB Honor Roll at school and even got a scholarship to Princeton, where I studied for four years. And can that be enough?"
I've been fidgeting the whole time I said the not-so-many details of my life, while ignoring Alex's look of sympathy, pity.
"Why have you been on your own since 14?" He asks me softly, but commandingly.
Not wanting to talk about that part of my story yet, I change the subject. "So, Alex. How did you became the famous business man you are?" That question alone led to him having a full on conversation about his success. Though I know he was still curious as to why I've been alone for nearly 12 years.

I'm full of lasagna and I couldn't be happier in this moment.
"Hey Raven, when's your birthday?" Alex suddenly asks out of no where.
"October 30th, yours?"
"December 13th of 1985. What year?"
"1989."
"Oh, so your 26?"
"Yup." By this time we've reached his car and we have climbed in.
"Raven, I don't really want to ruin your good mood. But I've got to ask, why have you been alone for the past 12 years?" Alex swings his ice-blue eyes in my direction, while turning on his Lamborghini.
"I haven't been alone, I had Luis with me." I frown slightly when a look of jealousy, I believe, goes through his features, then disappears as quickly as it came.
"Ok, but you didn't answer my question."
"It's a childhood that I'd rather forget." I reply, suddenly drained.
"Raven, please." I noticed just now that Alex hasn't moved the car, he only turned it on to put the heater on.
I'm staring anywhere but him, while I slowly say what I've been trying to forget for 12 years.
"M-my step-dad was an alcoholic, that would come home and beat either my mom or me until we were unconscious," I let out a shaky breath, but keep going. "Then, my mom sh-she have always wanted to leave with my younger siblings and I. B-but one look from my step-dad and she was next to him in a second."
I notice tears are freely spilling down my face, but I keep going. "Finally, one day I decide I'm leaving with my brother Josè, my sister Jasmine, and my baby brother David. I was gonna leave at midnight on June 11th, my baby brothers birthday. He was gonna be 3, b-but he along with my other 2 siblings died that night. My step-dad came home drunk off his ass and decided to take them for a ride.
"My mom was with them.. he barely reversed out the driveway when there was a truck, a moving truck, driving by. The driver honked his horn, but it was like my step-dad was deaf. I heard the crash of metal on metal, the yells of my mom, brother, and sister, along with my baby brothers wailing. Then all at once it stopped, I got out of the house and there were 6 dead bodies. I still can't believe one of them wasn't me.."
I take a deep breath and a sob rocks through my whole body, the only other person who knows all of this is Luis. But now Alex knows too. I sit there crying when I hear a door open, next thing I know I'm being pulled onto a hard chest, that's rising and falling rapidly. That's all I remember before I pass out.

I know terrible way to leave it, but that's all for now. Anyway, you never know the next chapter could be worst or better. Guess there's only one way to find out, to keep on reading and to keep voting and commenting. Thank you all for reading this far, bye for now. :) *hint hint* next chapter MIGHT half be Raven's p.o.v. and Alex's p.o.v.!
