"Zeta!" Dad voice out looking bewildered and mom who was cut off mid-sentence looked equally shocked.

Dad was standing near Zenon's bed while mom was at the foot of the bed.

When I looked at my dad with a look of confusion as to understand their shocked look, he looked away as if hiding away in guilty conscience.

"Yo-you what are you doing here, Zeta?" Mom asked after a second or so while I was trying to understand the reason behind their weird behavior.

"Why can't I be here?" I asked back looking straight into my mom's eyes.

I didn't know what caught me but their shocked look made me feel sad. They looked like their secret was about to be out of the box. I hadn't ever seen my dad not coming forward to hug me and I had a bad feeling about it.

Is there anything worth hiding from me?

"How dare you talk back?" My mom exploded and I didn't even know the reason for her anger.

"Love." My father walked to her side and he held her hand while whispering something in her ear.

"Seriously, dad. Are we playing a whispering game?" I lost my temper and sounded rude.

"Gio, look how good your daughter is?" Mom snorted while giving me a sharp glare.

"Am I not your daughter?" I retorted, sounding sad and someone held my arm from behind.

"Zeta."

"Zeta."

Vincenzo and dad called at the same time and I raised my head to see Vincenzo looking at me with an odd expression etched on his face but it disappeared the next second.

"Calm down." I heard my dad's voice and turned to see him hugging my mom.

"Dad, you won't hug me?" I asked, sounding depressed.

Every time we met after not seeing each other for a while, he would hug me and pat my head while telling me that he missed me. I just missed them and wanted to greet them warmly but the meeting scene became ugly.

"You have become a big girl and still want your dad to hug you?" My mom interjected when dad pulled away from her.

"I'm still my dad's little girl, aren't I?" I acted like a spoiled brat and my dad walked towards me with a doting smile.

As if seeing my longing look, the hand holding my arm loosen and I walked to meet him halfway.

"I missed you." I said as soon as he wrapped his arms around me.

"Me too, my little baby." He said while patting my head and I cringe as I take in his words.

"Dad, I'm not a little baby!" I whined pulling away from him and he laughed while shaking his head.

With an irritated look, I walked towards my mother who was still sulking and I placed my head on her shoulder while wrapping my arms around her neck. I know that she dislikes unnecessary touch but I couldn't stop my longing for my dear mother.

The sudden news of Zenon hospitalization had shocked me to the core and I wanted to hug her.

"Mom, I was so scared." I whispered, tightening the grip on my hand and she understood my incomplete words.

"Mmm..he scared me too." She rubbed my back in a soothing manner and it felt good to be in her embrace.

"He is fine now." Dad's voice came from the top of my head and he joined the hug.

"Dad." I whispered feeling emotional and tears fell from my eyes.

"Shhh...Zeta don't cry." Dad pulled away and carefully wiped off the tears.

"Look, what have you done? Making your sister cry." Dad shouted looking at my brother who was lying on the bed and I grabbed his hand making him look at me.

"Dad, don't." I pleaded with my eyes and he sighed looking distressed.

"Zeta, who called you here?" Mom's voice came from the side and I raised my head to meet her questioning look.

And I couldn't understand why my mom was hell bent on asking the same question.

"Mom. Dad." Vincenzo's voice came from the door and his call sounded as if he was telling he was there.

Dad snorted while Mom nodded towards him and turned her gaze towards me.

"Thea, she called me saying that Zenon had an accident and then I came here." I answered looking at her face and she looked away turning her gaze towards my brother.

"Ambrose, he is in a coma." My brother said with a glance at me.

"Oh, right. Where is Thea?" She was crying so badly when she had called me and later on she was talking with the doctors but now her whereabouts was unknown.

As I raised my questions, silence prevailed for a few minutes and my brother spoke with difficulty. "She went home."

"Gio." My mom called my dad and they two stared at each other for a minute then dad turned to look at me.

"Zeta, you should go home and rest. You must be tired and please don't cry." Dad tucked my hair behind my ears and coaxed me like I was a little girl.

If I was a little girl and hadn't come across their weird eye exchange then I would have been convinced after hearing his soft words but now I had a trace of doubt and was curious to explore it.

"Mom. What gunshot you were talking about?" I asked, ignoring her cold face and a harsh glare greeted me the next second.

"Why are y-"

I cut her off before she could finish her sentence. "You were talking about it with dad and Zenon, before I entered. What about it?" I said with I-want-to-know attitude.

"Vincenzo, take her home." Mom didn't look at me and said to my husband who was still standing at the door.

"Mom, I wo-" I was about to deny when dad held my left hand and shook his head while stopping me from speaking further.

"Your mom was talking about the gunshot that happened in Las Vegas." Dad answered, averting his gaze and he continued.

"Zeta, your mom is tired from the jetlag and she was worried about your brother so please listen to her and go home with Vincenzo."

"And don't come here. Your..." Mom added which made me feel sad and I couldn't listen more.

"Ok. Mom, I know you don't love me." With that I dashed towards the door and ran towards the elevator.

"Zeta!" Hurried footsteps came behind me but I didn't stop.
