As Vincenzo fire the bullet, the gunshots continued, ground coated with blood of the injured and dead men along with grunts, groan and curses. Things happened so fast that I was on the gunpoint with Vito ready to pull the tiger anytime soon and the another second his blood splattered on my face as bullet pierce his body.
"Zeta," Zenon, my brother who I didn't know when had come to my side and was holding a gun on his one hand dragged me towards the exists while looking out for the potential danger.
I spotted my mother who had just finished off a group of men and our eyes met, unspoken words and feelings of gratefulness passed between us. We both heave a sigh of relief seeing each other safe and sound and then she walked or literally ran towards us.
Zenon pulled my shoulder reminding me to duck down and hide ourselves behind a huge tank. Stopping my breath with lips clamped together, our bodies sticking to the tank, we watched out for the potential danger.
With an anxious heart and a fuzzy mind which was trying to process all the new information, my soul longed for Vincenzo. The way he had pulled off the tiger and shot Enzo flashed on my mind explaining who he truly is.
Mafia.
I am married to a man who ruled the underworld. How ironic is it that I am the last one to know his true identity while we have to spend our lives together till death according to his vow!
'Does his true identity matter when you love him like no one before?' My subconscious mind asked rendering me speechless.
Love?!
I love him?!
The sudden realization shocked me to the core, and I cursed myself to be stupid enough to not realize how much I have grown to love him. There was no doubt I was attracted towards him when our eyes had met for the first time and my inner feelings had led me to accept his marriage proposal.
But love was a different story.
And do I hate him for hiding the truth?
Yes.
Hate him enough to forget about him?
No. Never.
He is the man I love and will always love.
A smile graced my lips despite the extremely dangerous scenario and when the bullet hits just behind me, I came back to reality freezing on the spot.
"Caught you?!" An extremely obscene sound entered my ears and a hand wrapped around my neck with a gun pointed on my temple.
Not again.
Stupid.
Outnumbering the fear that was bubbling inside me, I tried to pry away those muscular arms with so much hate and pain. Alas my attempt to free myself was a failure. Pin drop silence without the sound of the firing bullets ensues and the man hit me hard on my temple with the back of the gun he had pointing against my temple.
I bet my skin was bruise and it hurt me that I winced in pain dropping my hands down as if in a surrender.
"Don't hit her motherfucker!" Vincenzo's roaring voice entered my ears causing me to look towards him.
